Entering through the North Gate:
From the days when we were a great and generous nation, and I quote header:
"FOR THE BENEFIT AND
ENJOYMENT OF THE PEOPLE"
A noble sentiment; clearly not a George Bush quote. (Remember: McCane is a third term for Haliburton).
Never count on being on time going through the park the animals have something to say about it.
They know it's their park and they'll let you know too.
They get you coming and going.
The illusive wolf: Where wolf? There wolf!
Getting closer? Bad idea, one started running towards me, it took it ca. 30 seconds half the way.
Mind you a grizzly was near by, just out of camera reach.
Burn baby burn has advantages it lets you see what you otherwise wouldn't have seen.
Well, if man doesn't do it, surely nature would have sooner or later.
I mean to say you are in the middle of a gigantic crater with a quite active caldera underneath your seat at all times!
Sulfur, fumes, steam and boiling water everywhere, surely fire isn't far off.

I should have brought a tea bag.
Well, the animals don't mind bathing in warm water:

Bear spray is the answer! But buget cuts have forced closure of many a path where in the past the rangers would have nuked everything with bear spray printed signs have been found to be cheaper.
No more nuking the "bear", barring access is the way things go!
You thought I am kidding!? What you do is inhale the spray, the bears hate bad breath and will leave you allone.
There is Sandcrane spray, duck spray, wolf spray etc., etc. to be purchased at the post card shop.

Coming to think of it I didn't see fish spray
The creatures are everywhere - beware!!!
You might also want to bring your snow plough, or at least some cocktail glasses and plenty of Martini makings.
Yellowstone Lake covers over 130 square miles, with over 110 miles of shoreline, that's a lake just 30 square miles smaller than the city of Vienna, Austria.
Note it is frozen over, completely.
But then,
there is warm water elsewhere, all around
