Laurel Weather Station

The Laurel Weather Station was installed in August of 2009. Data was populated into the system for the prior months so that viewers could compare averages, extremes, and all other historical data for the year. Laurel Weather is powered by a La Crosse Technology WS-2317U that consists of three outdoor units and one indoor unit. The outdoor station communicates to the indoor unit via wireless.

Laurel Weather is located in Sussex County and two miles southwest of town on Horsey Church Road.

This station is known as a remote site that reports all collected data to a designated weather server located in Milford, Delaware. Data is transmitted every five seconds to the server and published to this website in almost real-time. The Laurel Weather Station was considered as a pilot program, being the first remote site in our system to report data across an internet link. The pilot was labeled as a success in November of 2009 and was introduced to the public in December of that year.
