| Who Decided ? | ||
The Washington State Democratic Central Committee met in Bellingham on April 28, and by an overwhelming margin (119-42), they voted to use caucuses to select our next Presidential Nominee. |
Washington's Precinct Caucus will be held at 1:00pm on February 9th, 2008. Each State chooses their own cacuse date, which must be approved by the National Democratic Party. |
"By choosing the caucuses Washington State Democrats made a statement that we are a Party driven by grassroots activism." |
| Who Attends? | ||
“We hope each and every Democrat in Washington State will attend their neighborhood caucus and vote for their candidate for President.", said Chair Dwight Pelz. |
We invite you to attend a caucus training session and find out! The 5th District Democrats will hold 3 caucus training sessions. |
“Our state will continue to be a place where Presidential candidates must win support through grassroots organizing rather than through expensive television ads.” |

| Bonus? | ||
| The caucuses also provide an invaluable opportunity for building the party in preparation for our 2008 election efforts and will give attendees the chance to introduce resolutions on issues about which they are concerned. Caucus-Convention Cycle Explanation - | The caucuses are a grassroots process where Democrats come together across the state in order to voice their opinion about which candidate should represent the Democratic Party in the 2008 Presidential Election. | In Washington State, our turn will be Saturday, February 9th when we gather in precinct caucuses throughout the 5th District to express our preference for the Democratic Presidential candidate, and to elect delegates to District and County Conventions. |
