And if you've no place to go
Come and sing, come and sing, come and sing!

Great show at Harvey's this weekend.   If you're not on Facebook, you should definitely join and friend me so you can see all the pics that were posted from Saturday night.   Bo doing a lap dance for Dave, Tara "Bustin A Move", ...etc.

We'll be at Fattie's next weekend on both Friday and Saturday nights.   There will be a Halloween celebration on Saturday with a free buffet.    Dress up and come out and sing with us.. (come out and sing even if you don't want to dress up).

Kenny B's was crowded Friday night.   No less than 28 singers in any rotation... and over 30 at times.   I'd say it was a pretty good show.   I didn't get to put an update in while everything was still fresh in my mind though because we went to bed at around 4:00 am after coming home that night, and then we had to wake up early and leave town for the Sines Family Reunion in Cumberland, MD.   Right now, our next show is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th at Harvey's Pub.   That's birthday week for Bo and I both.  I'll be 44 and he'll be 42.   Ugh!   Did I say 44?  I meant 29!!

Keep an eye on the schedule in case anything changes.   You never know who might call and need a KJ before October 10th.  :)

Had a great show at Harvey's Pub last night.  We started off the night with some technical difficulties which scared the heck out of me (hard drive crashed), but luckily we live close enough that Bo was able to run home and get the spare hard drive and came back to save the show.  Whew!!!  We won't be heading to any shows without a spare from now on.   Singers included Bo and I, Charles, Bernadette, Greg Z, Julie, Cindy, Chuck, Tara, Jim G, Jimmy, Nascar Jim, Arley, Laura, Keith, Dave and Murphy.   I'm naming the singers strictly from memory (which isn't always so good for me after just a few hours sleep), so please forgive me if I didn't mention someone that sang.    We took a lot of pictures, so we'll be posting a link to those shortly.   The owner at Harvey's thanked us for bringing in a crowd last night and complimented us on a job well done.   So, thanks to everyone who came out and helped make the night such a success.   He also mentioned he has a few Saturday's in October he wants to fill and he'll be calling me during the week to see which weeks we're available.   Keep an eye on the schedule for updates!  :)

We'll be at Kenny B's this coming Friday, September 11th.   I hope a few of our regulars can come check the place out this weekend.

So, Kenny B's called us on Monday and asked us if we could fill in on Friday night (last night), and we accepted.   I was sort of hesitant because I knew with only 5 days notice, it might be hard to get any of our regular karaoke friends to come out.  Especially since we had already been asking everyone to come out the following night (tonight) to Harvey's Pub.   I was right, none of our regulars came out (understandably).

So we showed up at 7:30 to set up and right away the manager greeted us and showed us around.   He and two other patrons offered to help bring in the equipment which was really nice.    Now Kenny B's has had the same KJ on Friday nights for 20 years, so we knew we were up against what might be a resistant crowd.   You know people don't always like change.   However, as people came in, many of them walked up and introduced themselves and talked to us for a while.   I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of most everyone.

The first rotation ended up being somewhere around 25 singers, and throughout the night stayed in the mid to high 20's.   We played until just a few minutes before 2:00 (real time, not bar time) and got in 4 full rotations.    At the end of the night we were asked to let the crowd sing their traditional "end of the night" song which was Take Me Home Country Roads.    Everyone seemed to have a good time.

They asked us to come back next Friday and fill in again.   They have already hired a new permanent KJ but I'm not certain when his start date is.

P.S.   I have a feeling after their feedback last night at the end of the show that if the new KJ doesn't work out, they'll be calling us.  I'm just saying, that's the feeling I got.  :)

Update- We got a call from Kenny B's this morning asking us to do karaoke there this Friday night.   So with that said, we have a busy weekend ahead.    We'll be at Kenny B's on Friday and Harvey's Pub on Saturday night this week.   I'm just hoping the holiday weekend doesn't take all of the singers out of town.    In addition to the additional show for this weekend, we also just updated our schedule for October.  We'll be filling in for Joey McCann at Fattie's Bar & Grill in Essex a few Friday's in October.   Check our schedule page often for updates!   Hope to see you out this weekend at one OR both of our shows.   :)

Saturday night at Harvey's Pub was a lot of fun.  I was a little worried about how it would go since we hadn't been gigging for a year or so, but I was pleasantly surprised.   Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, old friends and new.   Thanks to Tara for coming all the way from PA to hang out and thanks to Julie for inviting a fun crowd along with her.  Thanks Doctah Jay for advertising the show on your site (Adventures in Karaoke) and thanks Fred for the nice write up about the show.  I could just go on and on thanking people, but you all get the point.

I hope everyone comes back next time.   Speaking of next time.... Harvey's Pub called today and we'll be there again on September 5th!!  Also, I'm uploading the pictures from Saturday night right now and plan to have them posted on the photos page by Saturday morning.

We're BAAAACK!!!   I know it's been quite a while.   We had taken a break from doing shows due to Bo having surgery on his shoulder in September... but we believe he's ready to start lugging those big speakers around again.  Woo Hoo!!  So with that said, please join us for our first night back out.   We'll be at Harvey's Pub on Saturday, August 8th.

DONATIONS CAN BE MADE TO THE MEMORIAL FUND FOR THE CHILDREN OF SUNSHINE ROYSTON AT ANY BANK OF AMERICA

At 2 am Saturday, Sept. 13th.  28 year old Sunshine Royston was killed coming home from her bachelorette party . She and 6 friends, including her mother and sister were in the back of a limo when they were hit by a tractor trailer failing to yield . Sunshine suffered severe head trauma, dying on impact.

Sunshine would have been married this Saturday to the love her of her life, Joe Hillegas. But, instead of attending the beautiful wedding, her family had to plan her funeral. She left behind 3 beautiful children;  5 year old Nathan, 3 year old Shawn and 7 month old Mackenzie. We are asking that every one keep Sunshine's children and family in their prayers.

Sunshine was very special ... She is one of a kind who will be missed so much by every one whose heart she has ever touched with her sweetness. I know she touched mine and now my heart is breaking. .. for her, for her children, for her fiance, for her parents Vicki and Jeff, and for her brother and sisters; Jeffrey, Brooke, and Brittany.  I wish there was something I could do to help take some of their pain away, but I know that's not possible.   However,  I can ask you to please consider making a donation to the Memorial Fund for Sunshine's children.

Hey everyone... just because Grab A Crab doesn't have karaoke anymore doesn't mean we can't all still go out and sing and have a good time.   Bo and I are heading over to the Poncabird tonight to sing with Ron of Kickin' Entertainment.    It would be great to see some of you there!!

Well folks, I have a bit of bad news....

Karaoke is postponed at Grab A Crab until further notice.   Unfortunately, the owners of Grab A Crab took a big hit when the kitchen was being renovated.   They literally went months without any income from their food business and it put them in a pretty difficult situation financially.   In order to keep the entertainment going they would need to make a profit on it, or at least make enough to pay the KJ's at the end of the night.  Since the kitchen re-opened a few weeks ago, the karaoke crowd has dwindled a little each week, instead of it growing each week as anticipated.   As much as Sandy hated to do it, she let us know tonight that she has to discontinue the karaoke until she gets her head above water..   I totally understand and hope that the rest of you will also.   The entertainment shouldn't cost the venue anything.... it should pay for itself.

We'll keep you posted on any changes and let you know if anything new should come up.   In the meantime, we're going to enjoy our weekends off and visit some of our other favorite KJ's shows.

Great News!!   The renovations are complete at Grab A Crab.   The kitchen is up and running and the party is just getting started.  Hope you can join us this Saturday night for karaoke!
