About Avrio
We are frequently asked, "What does Avrio mean?" Denice's father was Greek. Avrio is the Greek word for tomorrow. We used that beautiful word for our kennel name in honor of Denice's father,
Gus George Panos.
Our love affair with German Shepherds began in 1993 when Mike purchased our first German Shepherd puppy as a surprise for Mother's Day. We started with German imported dogs and have now progressed into American show dogs. As we went to shows, learned, and watched video tapes, we changed our kennel lines several times as we tried to get the look and temperament that pleased us. Now, ten years later, I think we are there. We have beautiful dogs that we are very proud of. We only have about one litter a year. Our operation is small. All puppies are born and raised in the house. They get used to being around the vacuum, the dishwasher, the tv, lots of people coming and going, and are held and played with all of the time. We only sell our puppies to homes that we feel will allow them to be part of the family life. Below are pictures of our family. We all help raise puppies although not all of the boys live at home anymore. Thank you for taking the time to look at our web site. Mike
As a retired Captain for the Tacoma Fire Department, Mike spends his time playing with the puppies and is determined to become a "grooming guru". He has a wonderful touch with the puppies that are having a hard time getting going. He has saved several with his patience and loving touch. Mike also has declared himself a most excellent double handler after a renowned judge complimented him on his technique.
