KNUCKLES AS REPORTER?

After being sidelined for up to six months with a torn ACL, team tough guy KNUCKLES has decided to take on a gentler role of team historian, documenting the happenings of the game. This week KNUCKLES writes:

Hey Purps: Some things that I noticed from the cheap seats.

1. Shark's "Whooo" can be heard everywhere in the rink.
2. The team passes a lot better than I remember.
3. Eric needs to get his skates sharpened. (and buy a new stick)
4. The points are wide open. Many scoring chances were had when the "D"
got off shots. Two noticeable times when Ya Ya got off the wrister.
5. Jay Dog's copper top is quite pretty under the bright lights.
6. Mad Dog's goal/Stinger's pass was a thing of beauty.
7. Tex scored just in time. His family had arrived about two minutes before the big goal.
8. Shark's goal was worthy of a SportsCenter highlight. He high-stepped like a little kid afterwards! Whoooo!
9. Stealth, Pipe and Rip need to play better. I hardly noticed them.
10. Chaz, Ya Ya and Cobra are rock solid on defense, while Eric fell down a lot. (He was obviously paying tribute to my style of play).
11. Playing is waaaaaaay better than watching.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Bones!!! For taking on the biggest player on the other team. It brought a tear to my eye. I know that Tex would have backed up Bones, but he was otherwise detained in the box. Bones gets the Knuckles "Iron Fist Player of the Game".

See you next week.

SURPRISE SUBSTITUTE GOALIE

Yes folks, RIP was unexpectantly missing in action this week, but in true PURP fashion the team came up with a viable substitute. BEVERLY the SCOREKEEPER laced up the old skates, donned the traditional home colors of yellow and purple, and put herself in harms way of a 90 MPH rubber disc.

TEX RETIRES THE BLUE PANTS

In a tear jerking ceremony, TEX has retired the famous blue pants, but not before having the championship PURP team sign them. Rumor has it that they will be displayed in the Sports Hall of Fame in Lowell, MA...right next to home town favorite Mickey Ward's boxing mouth piece.
