Other Comments

Mary Anne was the most difficult of all the ancestors to research.  After many year's the mystery was finally solved in 2008 by Norman's cousin Jean Judd.  Now, thanks to Jean's research and the work of the researchers behind www.theweald.org , Mary Anne's Combridge ancestry has been traced back to Adam Combridge in 1250 in the days of King Henry III.

Her family ended up in the Bromley Union Workhouse in Locksbottom, Kent.  Her father was 73 when she was born, and both her parents were dead by the time she was 14.  Must have been extremely hard for her in the workhouse.

Believed that Mary Anne's mother "O'Connor" came from Ireland, possibly Galway or County Cork.  But this turned out to be untrue.

After her husband Bill died, Mary Anne stayed with her daughter Aggie in Crossway. But one Christmas, Aggie gave her mother a half bottle of whiskey as a present. When Aggie went up to her mother's bedroom later that afternoon, her mother had drunk the lot and was quite drunk. A big fight followed and Mary Anne walked out and went to live with a friend, Mrs Brown, in West Street.
