1. Andrew Hose (Labourer, Road Surface Man, Ag. Lab.) was born on the 1st of May and christened on the 9th of July 1818 in Dalrymple, and married on the 18th of December 1846 in Dalrymple to Ann Woodburn.  Ann was born in 1824 in Newmills, Loudon.  Andrew died in 1888 in Dalrymple at the age of 70, and Ann in 1895 at the age of 70.  
   From the Dalrymple Churchyard Gravestone Inscriptions website, Entry 177 "Andrew Hose born 15.4.1850 died Glenlea 25.1.1897, mother Anne Woodburn 16.1.1895 age 70, father Andrew Hose 11.8.88, age 70."
• Ann Hose was born in 1843 in Ochiltree and married on the 23rd of December 1864 in Drumgobs, Dalrymple to Andrew Allan Cupper. Allan was born on the 17th of February 1844 in Kirkoswald and was an Iron Miner and Ploughman. He lived in Dalmellington in 1881 and also at Crosshill, Kirkmichael.

• Andrew Cupper was born on the 28th of August 1868 in Dalmellington.
• Margaret Woodburn Cooper was born on the 2nd of December 1871 in Dalmellington. Margaret was a district Nurse N/M.
• John Cooper was born on the 30th of October 1873 in Dalmellington and had a son by Elizabeth McMeekin. John died in Cessnock, NSW in the 1940s.
• David Cooper was born on the 10th of January 1900 in Coylton. David emigrated to Cessnock, NSW, Australia in 1914 with his Aunt Annie and Aunt Nellie. Annie returned to Scotland. David's father John followed in the 1920s and was a Mine Deputy at the Maitland Coal Fields.
• Jane Cooper was born in 1876/77 in Dalmellington. Jane was an N/M Nurse.
• Helen "Ellen" "Nellie" Cooper was born in 1877/78 in Dalmellington and married in ____ in Scotland to James Brown. James and Helen moved to Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia. James was a blacksmith. They had children Andrew, Alan and Wilhelmina.
• Annie Cupper was born in 1886 in Dalmellington.
• John McClure Hose was born on the 21st and christened on the 29th of February 1848 in the Village, Dalrymple.

• Andrew Hose was born on the 13th of April and christened on the 1st of May 1850 in the Village, Dalrymple. 
  "April 13th ... Andrew Hose, lawful son of Andrew Hose and Ann Woodburn, in the Village."
  Andrew was already widowed by 1881. Andrew may have later married a Margaret Duncan in Dalrymple in 1883. (verify this marriage)   Andrew died on the 25th of January 1897 in Glenlea.

2. Agnes Hoase was born on the 9th of July and christened on the 1st of October 1820 in Dunnstown, Dalrymple.
   "July 9th ... Agnes Hoase, parents Andrew Hoase and Isabella Duff, in Dunnstblis."
3. Jane Hose was born on the 28th of August and christened on the 8th of September 1822 in Dalrymple and married on the 3rd of May 1846 in Glasgow to Andrew Frazer.
   "August 28th ... Jane Hose, lawful daughter of Andrew Hose and Isabell Duff, in St. Valley."
4. James Hose (Carter) was born on the 26th of September 1824 in Dalrymple and married around 1846 in ____ to Mary Unknown.  Mary was born in 1822/23 in Ireland.  James and Mary lived at the Clyde Ironworks in Old Monkland, Clyde, Lanarkshire.  A James Hose and Mary Mooney were married on the 31st of July 1846 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.  Given the date, the closeness to Dalrymple, and the very Irish name, this could be our couple.

5. Thomas Hose (Farm Servant) was born in March 1827 in Dalrymple.  Thomas appears to have also moved to Australia along with brothers John and Quintin.  In 1851 he is a farm servant at Whitehill, Ayr, in the household of Robert and Margaret Gemmell.  In 1861 he does not appear to be in Scotland.

6. William Hose (Farm Servant) was born on the 11th and christened on the 22nd of June 1831 in Burnside, Dalrymple and married on the 1st of June 1849 in Kirkoswald to Janet McClure.  In 1851, William Hose is a prisoner in Perth.
   "June 11th ... William Hose, lawful son of Andrew Hose and Isabella Duff, in Burnside."

William was a soldier and died in 1882 in Lochinver. Janet was born around 1830 in Girvan to Alexander McClure, fisherman, and Janet McClure.

• Isabella Hose was born on the 3rd of November 1849 in Dailly and christened on the 21st of July 1850 in New Dailly and married on the 11th of July 1873 in Kirkmichael to James McCracken (Dock Labourer, Hay Bailer, Pitheadman, Fish Merchant).  James was born in 1852 in Ireland to James McCracken and Agnes McConnell.

    • John Kirk Jack was born in 1915 in Scotland and married in ____ to Ivy Beatrice Bettis.  John died in 1966 in Thurrock, Essex, England.  Ivy was born on the 16th of September 1918 in Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex to John Bettis and Edith Horner.  John and Ivy had six sons between 1942 and 1960.

7. John Hose was born on the 25th of September and christened on the 15th of October 1833 in Burnside, Dalrymple.  
   "September 25th ... John Hose, lawful son of Andrew Hose and Isabella Duff, in Burnside."
   John was married on the 12th of September 1864 in Mount Moriac, Victoria, Australia to Margret Wilson.  John and Margret emigrated to Australia and were one of the earliest settlers in South Purrumbete, between Colac and Camperdown in Victoria.  It is reported that John's cousin William came with him on the boat.  Not sure which William yet.  Margret was born on the 16th of July 1840 in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire to William Wilson and Jane McCreath and died on the 27th of July 1902 in Australia.  John died on the 21st of September 1910 in South Purrumbete, Australia.

9. Quintin Bone (Farm Servant, Dairy Farmer) was born on the 18th of May 1843 in Dalrymple to Isabella Hose and Quintin Bone Snr.   He arrived in Melbourne , Australia on the “Mayflower” in 1862.  Quintin was married on the 17th of January 1867 in Glasgow to Sarah Jane Kee.  Their marriage was registered in Victoria ref. no. 640.   He died on the 14^th August, 1918 at Camperdown, Victoria, Austra.lia at age 75 (ref 7815).    Sarah died on the 24th of April 1920 in Camperdown, Victoria, Australia (ref 4760), father William Kee, mother Sarah Jane Johnston.
   A Pamela Bone wrote an article on her 8 G/G/Grandmothers. Extract – “Sarah Jane would not have met her mother-in-law Isabella Duff as she remained in Scotland.  She seems to have been less than a model of chaste womanhood.  Well there she was,  respectably married to Andrew Hose for long enough to have 8 Hose children with him.  Then at 46 years of age and a widow for seven years she found herself wearing her apron high again.  She gave birth to my G/Grandfather – Quintin Bone, whose father was Quintin Bone too, but no record of any marriage between them.”
   In the Terang and District Pioneer Register pre 1925 it was stated in Quintin’s section: “Quintin Bone is a half brother of Thomas and John Hose.  He farmed at South Purrumbete , North Purrumbete and Bostocks Creek, Vict., Aust.”

• Quinton Bone was born on the 17th of March 1869 (ref 7301) and died in 1889 (ref 896) aged 19 in Camperdown.
• Thomas George Bone was born on the 14th of May 1871 (ref 14685) in Camperdown and was married in ____ to Emma Florence Matilda Jacobs.  Thomas died on the 21st of October 1922 in Griffith, New South Wales, Australia.  Thomas and Emma had eight children.
  • John Quinton Bone was born in 1903 and married in ____ to Mavis Elsie Roberts.  John died in 1976.  John and Mavis had eight children.
  • Vera Alice Bone was born on the 29th of May 1916 in Griffith and married on the 4th of January 1937 in Narranderra, New South Wales to William Kelly.  Vera died on the 22nd of June 1997 in Griffith.  William was born in 1911 in Darlington Point, and died on the 28th of September 1973 in Darlington Point, New South Wales.
• John Dawson Johnston Bone was born on the 30th of July 1873 (ref 22492) and died in 1889 (ref 15474) at age 16.
• James Bone was born on the 3rd of September 1875 (ref 21548) in Camperdown.
• Andrew Ernest Bone was born on the 17^th of February 1878 in Camperdown.
• Henry Albert Bone was born on the 23rd of March 1880 (ref 6969) in Camperdown.
• Alexander Collins Bone was born on the 30^th of June 1882.
• Donald Stewart Bone was born on the 6th of March 1886 (ref 8437) and died in 1887 (ref 727) aged 10 months.
• Sarah Arabella Bone was born on the 1st of January 1889 (ref 1315) and married in 1912 (ref 10484) to Charles Cook.
• Archibald Cecil Bone was born on the 11^th of June 1891.

In this census, Jane Fraser is listed as "Blind or Deaf and Dumb". It is highly likely that Jane was deaf, and that this is the explanation why her maiden surname is always different every time it is listed. A real mystery solved!
