June 10th William Morrison and Catherine Gow both of this Parish were regularly proclaimed here in order to Marriage and Married on this 4th of July.

Buried in the churchyard of the white Parish Church in Comrie, on the road to Dalginross, opposite the post office. The grave can be seen from the roadway, but the gravestone has fallen face down.

1. James Morison christened on 3rd April 1803 in Comrie and married to Helen Gow (Catherine Gow's sister). Two brothers and two sisters married!

James and Helen emigrated to the United States in 1829 and settled in Hamden, Delaware County, New York State, where they had eight daughters! James was a farmer. Hamden is a really remote place in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. Back in 1829, they must have lived like log cabin pioneers in Mohican country.

2. Archibald Morison was christened on the 28th of September 1804 in Comrie and married on the 11th of February 1849 in Crieff to Isabella McNab. (no children)

James Morison in Comrie and his spouse Janet McIntyre had their lawful son Baptised named Archibald.

Archibald was a hand loom weaver and cotton weaver. and was still unmarried at age 36 in 1841. He appears to have left the village at the 1851 census, but returns with his new wife from Crieff by the time the 1861 census takes place.
 

3. Peter Morison was christened on the 18th of January 1807 in Comrie, and married around 1830 in Comrie to Ann Murray.

Peter was an agricultural labourer and a storekeeper. His wife Ann dies quite young leaving him with a family of young children. His sister Christian appears to have moved in to look after the children when his wife died.

4. Christian (F) Morison christened on 7th January 1810 in Comrie and married on 12th November 1854 in Muthill to Peter Millar.  Christian died at age 63 of chronic bronchitis in Muthill on the 6th of May 1873.  Peter was first married on the 17th of December 1843 in Muthill to Catherine McLaren.  Peter Millar was born on the 17th and christened on the 25ht of October 1812 in Muthill to Alexander Millar and Jean Taylor.  Peter died in 1886.  Catherine McLaren was christened on the 16th of November 1816 in Crieff, Perthshire to Hugh McLaren and Catherine Miller.  Catherine died in 1853, possibly as a result of the birth of son Hugh in September 1853.

• Alexander Millar (Stone Mason) was born on the 15th of January 1845 in Muthill, Perthsire.  Alexander was unmarried in 1881 and living with his father and brother Hugh.
• Hugh Millar was born on the 15th of October and christened on the 8th of November 1846 in Muthill.  This Hugh presumably died as a child.
• Janet Millar was born on the 22nd of September and christened on the 8th of October 1848 in Muthill, Perthsire, and married on the 17th of June 1879 in Muthill to William Wilson.  "William was born in 1833/34 in Carluke, Lanarkshire, and was married earlier to Barbara Jackson. They were married on the 23rd June 1865 in Culter, Lanarkshire. There were two known children from this marriage William 1865 and Barbara Willieson Wilson 1868.  William died in Motherwell 31st May 1898 and Janet on 14th Feb 1922.", John Miller (descendant).
  • William Millar was born on the 6th of September 1867 Muthill and married in 1893 in Motherwell? to Julia MacLennan.  Julia was born on the 21st of July 1866 in Ardelve, Lochalsh, Ross and Cromarty to Donald MacLennan and Ann MacKenzie.  "William moved to Motherwell where he opened a bicycle shop where he assembled and sold Brandon Bicycles.  He also sold china and gramophones that he imported from Germany.  They had nine children, all born in Motherwell, and then emigrated from Scotland to Australia in 1910.  The family settled in Brisbane where William graduated from bicycles to motor vehicles.  He established a very successful business and was the first distributor of Chevrolets in Brisbane.", John Miller (descendant).
  • Robert Millar was born in 1872 in Muthill? and is believed to have emigrated to America.
  • Peter Wilson was born on the 14th of May 1880 in Crieff, Perthshire and married on the 26th of October 1904 in Falloden Post, Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa to Birdie Gladys Randall.  Peter died on the 23rd of May 1955 in Port Shepstone, Natal, South Africa and is buried in Westpark Cemetery, Johannesburg.  Birdie was born on the 30th of May 1885 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa to Arthur William Randall and Annie Jane Wild.  Birdie died on the 18th of May 1970 in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa, and is also buried in Westpark Cemetery, Johannesburg.  Peter and Birdie had 11 children, several still living.
    • Hazel Annie Wilson was born on the 5th of September 1905 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa, and married around 1930 to Carl Herman Hees.  Hazel died in the 6th of October 1978.  Carl was born about 1901 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa.
    • Donald William Wilson was born on the 20th of May 1907 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa.  Donald died on the 26th of May 1938.
    • Natalie Janet Wilson was born on the 10th of July 1908 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa.  Natalie died on the 2nd of October 1976.
    • Muriel Irene Wilson was born on the 12th of May 1911 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa.  Muriel died on the 16th of September 1997.
    • Marjory Gladys Wilson was born on the 25ht of April and christened on the 27th of September 1913 in Peddie, Cape Of Good Hope, South Africa, and married on the 29th of January 1938 in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa to Oscar Charles Gordon Utton.  Marjory died on the 18th of April 1985.  Oscar was born on the 6th of September 1912 in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa, and christened on the 11th of March 1915 in Peddie District, Cape Province, South Africa.  Oscar died on the 15th of May 2000 in Sandton,Gauteng, South Africa, and is buried in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.
    • Ronald Hugh Wilson was born on the 1st of June 1915 in Cape Of Good Hope, South Africa.  Ronald died on the 3rd of September 1987.
    • Alexander Wild Wilson was born on the 21st of January 1920 in Winburg, Orange Free State, South Africa.  Alexander died on the 23rd of February 1995.

East Comrie

William and Catherine's two children are William Swan Morrison who became quite rich in Stirling, and Great Aunt Eelen who never married. Walter Flucker used to visit Great Aunt Eelen in Comrie in the summertime. William Swan Morrison used to take Walter for runs in his chauffer driven car.
 

On the same page of the census is William's brother Peter. His wife has died and it appears that his sister Christian may have moved in to look after the children. Jannet and Robert, who would be 16 and 14, are not at home.
 

Elsewhere in the 1851 census (ED1 Page 18 Earnside) was found the answer to the unusual name of William Swan Morrison. He was named after the local minister.
 

Also his wife, son, sister and servant.

On the same page of the census is William's brother Peter. Sister Christian is no longer in Peter's household as she has now married Peter Millar and is probably living in Muthill near Comrie where she got married. Jane McEwen, I assume, must be the child of Peter's daughter Jannet.
 

Also on the same page, William's brother Archibald has finally gotten married.
