     George Capron was born on 16 May 1802 in Cumberland, Providence, Rhode Island.1 He was the son of Asa Capron and Sally (Sarah) Mahoney. George Capron married Clariet Brown on 9 July 1823 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island, by Rev. Zalmon Toby at the home of Joseph Farnum, grandfather of the bride.2 George Capron died on 21 September 1882 at age 80 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.3

Atkinson, MD. Philadelphia: D.G. Brinton, 115 South Seventh St., 1880. ---- Page 679 Was sent to live with Judge Peleg Arnold about 7 years of age. Stayed with Judge Arnold about 3 years getting 3 months of school each year. Returned home about age 10 and went to work in a factory. Worked there for several years and recieved only 2 months of school during this period. At age 13 he picked up his studies and obtained a clerkship which required him to work 12-14 hours a day but he still found time to study English Grammer, natura philosophy, chemistry and Latin. Taught school at nite for a while. At age 18 he began to study medicene with Dr. Levi Wheaton of Providence. He attended a course of medical lectures in Boston, and also at the medical school connected with the Brown Univ, the lectureres there also taught at Harvard. He opened his own practive in 1823 in North Providence. Graduated an M.D. from Brown Univ. in 1824, advocating in this thesis the use of opium in dysentery. He moved to Providence in 1835. He generally practiced obstetric. Gained a wide reputation and attended nearly 8,000 labors. Elected member of the RI Med. Soc. in 1824. Served as second and first vice presidents and as president. Wrote several books and papers. Served briefly at Hampton Roads during the war. He remarried in June 1876. He appeared on the census of 1850 at Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.4 He was a Doctor in 1859 at Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.2 In 1859 George Capron resided in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.
