1956 Packard Caribbean Convertible
One Of 276 Built
This fine Packard is in very good condition. It was restored during the
late 1970's and has been driven only a few miles since that time. The engine has
been completely rebuilt. The Twin Ultramatic was rebuilt by a Packard Dealership
transmission specialist. The front suspension, brakes, exhaust system (stainless
steel mufflers and resonators) and steering were rebuilt with all new parts. The
load leveler motor and gear case are new. The factory chrome wire wheels and
tires are as new. The car has N.O.S. front fenders. All of the chrome trim was
replated, the stainless steel trim has been polished and the paint is smooth and
shiny with a few blemishes. There are too many new parts to list here. Receipts
for virtually all parts and labor going back over 30 years are on hand.
The car is not perfect. The chrome along the bottom edge of the rear
bumper is peeling. The trunk lid requires adjustment for a better fit to the
body. There is some perforation along the rear edge of the trunk floor, a small
hole in the driver's side floor, some small areas just above the lower edges of
the doors need attention etc. The remainder of the underbody is very solid and
clean. Although the car is started regularly, but has not been driven for some
time, it will likely require some mechanical attention such as a front end
alignment, brake adjustment etc. I will be glad to answer your questions,
provide further details, more photos and invite serious buyers for a personal
inspection at the car's location in Massachusetts.
