"Exciting Midnight Wedding"
BALLUS-WILSON - In the presence of his family and Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Tomlinson, Esq.,
Jonas Tomlinson married Howard BALLUS and Miss Dora WILSON of St. Francis at 12:45 o'clock.
It was a run-a-way match and the bride's father objected and caused the arrest of the groom
for stealing his daughter, but that didn't stop them. The efforts to get [a] license at
Clarendon, Forrest City, and DeValls Bluff on Monday, all proved fruitless and it began to
look desperate for the would-be-wedded couple. But a marriage license came in overland from
Cotton Plant Monday night by midnight and they were soon united as told above, by Justice
Tomlinson in his usual, graceful way.

CASE-MILES It was another instance of Dan Cupid's work over-time, which caused the
wedding of Dr. Will CASE and Miss Lily MILES to be solemnized at the Methodist church
Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock...
The bride wore a gown of Altes blue satin and carried a bouquet of bride's roses, the
groom was dressed in the conventional black...

April 27, 1906 Roe's Budget CRUTCHFIELD-ARNOLD - One of the greatest surprises Roe has had in the way of a marriage happened last Sunday. It was when Harry CRUTCHFIELD led Miss Ethel ARNOLD to the alter. Harry is only about 19, but a very quiet industrious young fellow. He has been with the firm of Trotter and Minnis for quite a while. For sometime, he has been paying his respects to Miss Ethel, occassionally taking her buggy riding, but no one thought of Cupid doing such earnest work. Miss Ethel, who is a relative of Mrs. Frank DOUGHERTY, and with whom she has been making her home since she came down from McCrory, is a nice quiet young lady about Harry's age and is one that is calculated to make a good wife for the one she has agreed to take her part in life's battle for weal or woe. Their friends wish for them happiness and prosperity. They are presently stopping at Hotel Roe. There was no preacher here last Sunday, so they, together with some friends, drove down to Esq. Billy Preston and had the ceremony performed there. It was Mr. Preston's first couple. I'm told he got through without a fright.
