He bagan the manufacture of wagons in 1850, and from that time up to 1880 the business was done under the firm and since that time the business has been done on a more extensive scale.

They now employ six skilled mechanics. They pay special attention to the selection of all their material. Since the establishment of these works here in 1850 they have secured marked favor and popularity through the uniform reliability and excellence of their products. The works are situated at 515 Fourth Street, where they are fully prepared at all times to manufacturer to order, and keep on hand, all kinds of vehicles, heavy farm and lumber wagons, express wagons, etc. They also make a specialty of carriage painting, and are fully prepared to do all carriage, bugg or wagon painting on short notice. The also do all kinds of repairing, both in wood and iron. All work warranted.

LIVERY AND BOARD STABLE, 113 GREEN STREET, DYE BROTHERS, PROPRIETORS.

Among the important accessions to our industrial and business arena, this one is worthy of public attention. These gentlemen are both natives of Marietta, born in 1846 and 1848, respectively. The firm of which they are the proprietors, was established in 1865 by their father Mr. J. H. Dye, deceased, by whom it was conducted until taken charge of by the sons. Their stables are located at ll3 Greene Street, are very finely equipped, and are 45x120 feet in dimensions. They are from fifteen to twenty-five good horses, and about the same number of vehicles, which for appearances and quality cannot be surpassed. They are prepared to furnish conveyances on all occasions such as pleasure parties, funerals, or for the transporting of commercial travelers to the neighboring towns at the lowest possible cost. They are prepared to board and care for horses at very reasonable prices, and a glance at the interior of their stable would convince all horse-men that their long years of experience, has taught them to care for horses properly. To the citizens of this city these gentlemen need no introduction, but to the public in general, we hearily commend them.

GOING TO MARIETTA
Debbie (Noland) Nitsche
Diamonddeb@comcast.net
Monday May 24, 2004 17:12:11

Well.....we have tentatively made plans for our summer visit back to Marietta the first 2 weeks in July.
My husband is making the plans, and I'm just going with the flow. I'm game for anything, just as long I get to go home to Marietta for a visit.
Here are our plans, which are subject to change, as the time gets closer.

Saturday, July 3rd - Leave Bensalem and drive to Columbus, Ohio to visit with my cousins: Donna, Joe, and Nina Johnson. (My Uncle Dewey's kids) We will be there 2 days.

Monday, July 5th - Take Kevin to the Columbus Airport in the AM. I will then drive to Marietta in the afternoon with the kids.

Monday, July 5 through Saturday July 10th - The kids and I will be in Marietta visiting family and friends, and do a little genealogy research. (Can't do much with the kids)

July 10th - Take the kids to Pittsburgh so they can spend the week with their Grandma and Aunt Nitsche. I will drive back to Marietta that day.

July 10th - July 15th I will be back in Marietta alone. This is to go cemetery trompin', do genealogy work, and to have FUN. (Yea!! No kids or hubby. ha ha)

Thursday, July 15th - Drive back to Columbus for 2 days and be a burden to my cousins again. lol

Saturday, July 17th - Pick Kevin up at the Columbus Airport and drive to Pittsburgh to pick up the kids.

Tuesday, July 20th - Leave Pittsburgh for home.

If any of you are going to be in or around the Marietta area on these dates, and would like to get together for genealogy work or do lunch/dinner. Email me and let me know. We can exchange phone numbers (I will have my cell phone), so we won't miss each other.

Martha J. Farnsworth Dye
shirley a. bentley
unitymarietta@aol.com
Tuesday May 25, 2004 00:38:41

Martha J. Farnsworth was my partenal GG-Grandmother. Her parents were Phoebe Pieterson (Peterson) and Henry Farnsworth.

Martha was born in Brooke County Va. (WVa) in 1828 she died in Marietta, Ohio January 28th,1892 she and other family members are buried in Oakgrove Cemetery.

She married David Jenkins Dye December 25th, 1845 by J. Hoff,JP. David died around 1870-80 and in 1888 she married Thomas G. Smith and lived in Warren Twp. until her death.

Lineage for Martha J. Farnsworth

Parents for Martha's mother Phoebe Peterson

Thomas Peterson (Pieterson) b. 1782 in Readington,Somerset N.J. and died July 7th, 1835 in Brooke Cty Va. He was the son of Pieter Pieterson and Martje Lowe Pittenger.

Mary Hardenbroeck was born about 1759 in Somerset New Jersey and died August 4th, in Brooke County Va. She married Thomas Peterson November 10th, 1780 in Somerset County, New Jersey.

Phoebe Peterson married Henry Farnsworth in Brooke Cty Va...around 1810...have not been able to obtain license from Virginia(w.va.) Henry's father was Adonijah Farnsworth born 1743 in NJ. and died 7-11-1791 in Loudoun, Va. He married Hannah who was born in Germany and died dec. 1805.

Pheobe Farnsworth is buried in Wade Cemetery along with her son Samuel Farnsworth born 1812, and his family. l also believe Henry his second with Susanna Rose Strachan Farnsworth....there are no stones. That cemetery in 1930 was defaced and many stones discarded and dirt removed.

Families that are in this branch of Fransworth are: Rose, Pittenger,Pugh. There was much inter-marriages between families, different locations and so it has been hard to put Martha 's personal history together.

Mary Barden - My 3rd Great Grandmother

Mary Barden was born in Virginia. Wife of Walter Locker.

Supposedly, Mary was the niece of Aaron Burr according to Frances Howe Johnson.
Mary Barden's parents were Thomas Barden and Elizabeth Gorham. This is according to Rick Ritchie's Files

Elizabeth Gorham, was born Jan 4, 1749/0. The daughter of Lockwood Gorham and Abigail Meeker. Abigail Meeker was the daughter of David Meeker and Mary Burr. Mary Burr is the sister of Aaron Burr, Sr.

Aaron Burr, Sr. was the 1st President of Princeton University. His son, Aaron Burr,Jr. was the one who was the 3rd Vice President of the United States, and in cahoots with Harman Blennerhasset.

http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?GORHAM::burr::467.html

Here's the line:
Mary Barden
Elizabeth Gorham (mother)
Abigail Meeker (grandmother)
Mary Burr (gr. grandmother)

Mary Burr and Aaron Burr were brother and sister

Abigail Meeker would be the NIECE of Aaron Burr, Sr.

Elizabeth Gorham would be the GRAND-NIECE of Aaron Burr, Sr.

Mary Barden would be the 2nd GRAND-NIECE of Aaron Burr, Sr.
and 1st cousin, 2x's removed of Aaron Burr, Jr.

Read about Aaron Burr, Sr. and Aaron Burr, Jr. here:
http://www.famousamericans.net/aaronburr/

IF THIS IS ALL TRUE.......I HAVE FOUND AT LEAST 4 VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN HISTORY THAT ALL TIES TO ME.

**Parke line with Princess Di

**Coburn/Conant line with Roger Conant, founder of Salem, MA.

**Barden/Gorham/Meeker/Burr line with Aaron Burr, Sr.,1st Pres. of Princeton Univ.

**Barden/Gorham/Meeker/Burr with Aaron Burr, Jr., 3rd Vice President of the United States, killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel, tried for treason, but acquitted, He died on his eightieth birthday, the same day his second wife's divorce was finalized on the grounds of adultery. Burr was rumored to have fathered an illegitimate son, Martin Van Buren, the 8th President of the United States.

I have a princess, a witch, a scholar, and an ASSHOLE for ancestors. ha ha
So.......It’s NOT my fault that I have all these traites in my personality. It’s in the genes. lol

Note: Roger Conant was not a witch, but Salem MA., is known for its Witch Trials.
