That perennial event is upon us once again. Spring is around the corner and with it comes another installment of the day to be Irish. Rest assured this is a matter that is taken most seriously by Frank and Dian O’Brien.
Who are these 2 you ask? They’re the new kids. They’ve made a long journey to be here and with them comes their annual gathering. This noble day of observance beckons and is best taken with minimal resistance. Many have attended, and with no regrets (aside from some minor reservations the next morning). Past gatherings have attracted those from afar and near. Gatherings have been held both far and near. Sometimes held afar, and attended by those near. Other times held near and attended by those from afar. Sometimes, oh never mind.
Some say it’s the music, others the camaraderie. Still others say it’s the hot corned beef sandwiches. But we think you’ll see once you’re here that the real attraction is the Guinness. On this day it’s all about the Guinness. Don’t drink Guinness? That’s OK, more for the rest of us. If you think you might like to try a Guinness, we’ll pour a passable pint. We’ve never had a complaint, that we can remember.
So make your way to the old mill town of Lowell. For on 57 Wannalancit Street you’ll find Frank and Dian who will be starting early, as they often do on this day.  At 2 pm you’ll find the Guinness will have found its way into its temporary resting place of a pint glass. Well into the afternoon really, but then it’s still early enough to enjoy the fine spring day we’ll no doubt have as well. Festivities will have evolved into a heighten state by 6 pm and guests are urged to arrive before this time if they have plans to carry on a normal conversation with their hosts and the other guests.
Kids are most welcome. There will be Harp, apple juice, cola, and water on hand for the non-Guinness drinkers. Irish whiskey will be available upon request. Those wishing to bring something are not discouraged to bring a accompaniment to the corned beef sandwiches such as a snack, salad, dessert, whatever moves you. Don’t bring beer.
