DBA1 Terminology:

El Elephants.1 model per base. Represents up to 25 real animals.
Kn Knights. 3,4, or 6 figures per base. Represents 750-1200 heavy horse. Cataphracts or Body Guard.
Cv Cavalry. 3 or 6 figures per base. Represents 750- 1200 horse.
LH Light Horse. 2 figures per base. Represents500-600 horse. Very useful for scouting.
2Cm Camelry treated as Light Horse. Represents 500-600 camels.
HCh Heavy chariot. 1 model per base. Represents up to 50 chariots. Very rare in this period.
LCh Light chariot. 1 model per base. Represents up to 50 chariots. Used by barbarians.
SCh Scythed chariot. 1 model per base. Represents up to 50 chariots. Chariots fitted with cutting devices.
3Cm Camelry. 3 figures per base. Represents 750-900 camels.
Sp Spears. 3-4 figures per base. Represents 750- 1200 close formation foot. Roman Triarii.
Pk Pikes. 4 figures per base. Represents 1000- 1200 close formation foot. Phalangites.
Bd Blades. 3-6 figures per base. Represents 750- 1200 close formation foot. Roman Legionaries.
Ax Auxilia. 3-4 figures per base. Represents 750- 1200 troops able to fight in close formation or looser order.
Bw Bow. 4-8 figures per base. Represents 1200 or more missile armed troops.
Ps Psiloi. 2 figures per base. Represents 500- 600 men. Light troops used for skirmishing. Any missile fire they issue is assumed to be at very close range. Sometimes useful in scouting.
Wb Warbands. 3-5 figures per base. Represents 750- 1200 irregular foot. Typical "barbarians".
Hd Hordes. 7 figures per base. Unskilled peasant conscripts. Represents over 1200 foot.
Art Artillery. 1 model per base. Any long range missile engine. Roman ballistae. Represents up to 50 engines.
BUA Built Up Area. Represents an inhabited town or fortified area.
Element A model or group of figures on a base which represents a large body of men, animals, or machines.
Camp The logistical element of the army, represented by tents, wagons, or simple fortifications around baggage.
