THE ANTIRACISM, PRORECONCILIATION INITIATIVE in the CHRISTIAN CHURCH CAPITAL AREA
|
 |
The Antiracism, Proreconciliation (ARPR) Team of the Christian Church Capital Area (CCCA)
continues to meet and develop its plans for leading this region and its congregations
closer to the reality of the antiracist, proreconciling church envisioned and promoted
by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) through its general and regional ministries.
The ARPR Team is composed of leaders from the Capital Area who have gone through
ARPR trainings. These leaders are working together to (1) offer ARPR trainings to
congregations and groups within the region, and (2) help the region identify and
begin to transform existing structures and relationships that prevent the children of
God from coming together and claiming their God-given identity as one family of diverse
and equal disciples of Christ.
The ARPR Team is currently working on a more effective regional structure for this important initiative.
The team is also responding to requests from congregations for introductory ARPR trainings, sending
more people to advanced ARPR trainings, and planning workshops for regional events (such as the
Regional Assembly, the annual Martin Luther King worship service, and Race Relations Sunday).
