Love Notes from Sophie: "These amorous and erotic recordings were made (like 'Love') at Worldwide Studios, London with P.K. (initials at their most masculine and sexual), Lion Studios, Leeds with Guy Crackers and his underage semi-clad assistant Phil and Blackwing Studios, London with Paul 'Toyboy' Tippler." Whew.

My Notes: Produced by Tom and Jon. The record that almost wasn't --  Mekons was recorded for Loud Music and nearly lost in the shuffle when the label collapsed in 1992 (see the entry for Wicked Midnight for more info). The beginning of a(n apparently) beautiful relationship with Quarterstick. "Point Of No Return" is a tune by Lonesome Bob. Does anyone else think that "All I Want" is an update of "After 6" (from 1979's The quality of mercy is not strnen)?

Lineup: Sarah 'Casanova' Corina, caressing the bass; Tom 'Cat' Greenhalgh, intimate vocals and provocative guitar; Susie 'Honeybaby', sensual violin; 'Don Juan' Langford, impetuous vocals and steaming guitar; John 'Lovely' Langley, beating the drums till they burst with pleasure; Sally 'Bunny' Timms, voluptuous vocals. Assistance from Eric 'Rico' Bellis, beautiful backing vocals; John 'lovely Dubbly' Gills, mouthwatering melodian; Ellie Hollingshead, backing vocals on "Wicked Midnight". Poor Ellie, she didn't rate a nickname.
