Paratus "Always Ready" The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by an act of Congress in 1939 to serve as the civilian volunteer arm of the U.S. Coast Guard. With it's 36,000 members nation wide, the Auxiliary assists the U.S. Coast Guard with such activities as marine safety patrols, recreational boating education, vessel safety checks, commercial fishing vessel exams, radio watch standing, aids to navigation, bridge inspections, marine environmental inspection and much more. The North Shore Division has about 160 members and is made up of five smaller units called Flotillas that are located in Beverly, Marblehead, Gloucester, Lynn and Danvers. The division provides support to Station Gloucester and Sector Boston. |
