Goals for SY2004/05

-         Promote critical thinking skills

-   Promote cooperative learning

-         Plant the seeds for life-long music making experiences

-         Use Sight-Reading Inventory (SRI) data and Instrumental Music Audio Portfolio (IMAP) data to drive instruction

-         Increase students’ music learning (Year 1 SRI average 50 or higher, Year 2 SRI average 80 or higher)

These goals will be pursued in order to expand the learning potential of all students concurrent with the PGCPS mission to ensure that all students acquire knowledge and develop skills and understandings that will enable them to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

It is my firm belief that through music students acquire understanding about processes and systems that can be applied not only to music, but transferred to other domains throughout the curriculum as well.

The processes and systems of music are taught through a comprehensive approach of pattern study, music reading, improvisation, and composition activities.
