Oma and I at my cubicle in the HCIL1 (Human Computer Interaction Lab) at the University of Maryland (UMD). Jerry does quite a bit of reading here!

After church we went to our choir practice for a little while, and then we went over to Brookeside Gardens and looked and enjoyed the flowers and the landscaping.

Mom and Danae especially enjoyed the rose gardens.

These little friends (cicadas) showed up in droves here in Maryland. They were most abundant in wooded parks, since they only come out every 17 years. I guess since they only come every once in a while, they try and make as large of an impact as possible. Each bug, can allegedly make noises up to 100 decibes loud, and there were millions of them!!! Here's a small clip of Cicada's in Hyattsville. (This really doesn't do them justice because they were REALLY LOUD)! For some more info on cicadas see: www.cicadamania.com

On memorial day, Mom, Oma, Danae & I went to the DC temple and did an endowment session. It was great being together in the celestial room, feeling the peace that abides there. Also, Oma shared and reminisced about her visits to the DC temple from Long Island.

After the temple, we enjoyed lunch indoors at Tony & Elena's (while it rained), and then enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon nearby at the C&O Canal.

The C&O canal is over 180 miles long. There is a trail that follows it all the way. Although we talked Oma out of walking the whole trail, she still dragged us along for well over a mile!

Oma finally conceded to take a break after seeing these impressive rapids.

Mom, Danae & I walked a little further and were able to see the Grand Rapids, only partially shown here.
What happened this week ...

Mom and Oma came to visit. Dad was going to join them, but with county-hopping and knowing he was going to be able to visit us again later, he didn't make it until right before they had planned to leave for Matt and Joanne's. We really enjoyed having Mom and Oma visit for the weekend.

Best to all,
Jerry & Danae
