Taken June 12, 2004 Danae, Mom & Oma posing in front of Mt. Vernon. Danae & I went with our visitors to see a historical site, the site where the first President of the United States lived and died. |
Taken June 12, 2004 A picture of the group (minus me) resting in the shade as we wait to enter the mansion. |

Taken June 12, 2004 Even though we tried to camouflage ourselves in appropriate attire, we still didn't quite measure up to Old George! He was a pretty tall man, and of course, an incredible man. |
Taken June 12, 2004 Dad & I ran down to see George Washington's burial place, before we joined back with the girls for a garden tour. |

Taken June 12, 2004 Mom, Dad & Danae in the Kitchen Garden. The weather was absolutely beautiful the day we went, sunny and not too hot nor humid! |
Taken June 12, 2004 Oma (in her wheels) and I in back of the mansion. This is the side that faced the Potomac river. It was very peaceful on the east lawn, and all of us relaxed (and all but Oma lay down for a quick nap). |

Taken June 12, 2004 On our way back from Mt. Vernon, we stopped at a park for a Picnic on the Potomac. |
Taken June 14, 2004 Monday, the 14th, we ventured into the city where we ate lunch at Old Ebbitt's Grill (a block from the Whitehouse). We then walked several blocks (Oma definitely got her exercise this day) to the Old Post Office to go up it's tower and see the vista. This picture shows Danae overlooking the Natural History Museum (the one with the dome) where she now volunteers twice a week in the herbarium! |

What happened this week ... Mom, Dad & Oma returned to the DC area, from their trip to Matt & Joanne's and New York. We enjoyed having another weekend with them. They flew out Tuesday afternoon. The last picture above, shows the Natural History Museum where Danae is volunteering twice a week in their herbarium. The herbarium houses a collection of 4.6 million plants. They have already noticed her many skills, and it seems everyone wants her help in their projects (although none have funding to pay her). She is still looking for a job, but truly enjoys using her talents in service. She truly is amazing!
That's all for now, |
