What happened this week ... After a few frantic days in preparation for our trip to Utah, we safely arrived in Salt Lake late Friday night. All week Jerry had been trying to finish a paper; he settled for a rough draft though. Danae had a job interview at a public charter middle school in D.C. for a position as a science instructional assistant. It was a unique school and seemed like a great situation, especially for D.C. [The school's population of white students went up by 300% last year- there are 3 of them now.] When she got to the interview, however, they had filled the science position and wanted her to do English. It was hard to turn down a job, but it just didn't feel right to settle for a job in something outside her training & interests. So back in Utah, we jumped right into a busy schedule. Saturday morning we attended the wedding of Danae's good friend from BYU, Taina Matheson, to Skip (Paul) Price. It was great to be back at the place where we were married & reminisce. We joined in the luncheon up AF canyon, and bid them adieu as they move out to Missouri for school. Saturday night we enjoyed a drive up Provo Canyon to Midway, were brother Weston performed. It was a beautiful evening for relaxing on a lawn with family & friends & good tunes. Sunday we attended church with Mom & Dad Cann. The extended Canns, Don & Verna Nelson, and the McNeill family filled up a few rows to witness Cambria Cann's baby blessing. Sunday night we gathered with the North's to celebrate Jessica's 5th b-day. She loved the My Little Ponies, dress up shoes, new clothes for kindergarten, Rainbow Bright doll, and more good loot. Monday we helped hunt for an all in one printer for Mom Cann. Monday night we went to the Fails home for a multi-birthday party. Dad Fails, Joanne, and Jerry all have their birthdays within 8 days. Mom Fails prepared a wonderful dinner as we celebrated them all together. Tuesday we went to BYU to visit our professors, but they were all absent. We set up an excursion with Mom Fails, Amy, Mom Cann, Damon, Clair, & Cambria to visit Park City. We hit the outlets for a while, then drove by the Olympic Park. Tuesday night we made the move from the Canns to the Fails home. Whew! Are you still with me? At this point we were ready to spend some time by ourselves, and Danae was itching to go out in the desert. To be continued on the "Capitol Reef" page...
