What happened the past 2 weeks ...

We regretfully didn't get pictures from our events lately. Consequently, we'll combine two weeks into one page of just text.:S

August 31st was Jerry's first day of class. He's taking a class in "peer to peer" interactions (ask him for details), and an independent class to work on some research he will be publishing. We started off September with a trip to the temple with our ward youth for baptisms. We spent more time with ward members on Friday for our first cannery experience. We went for a shift of canning Crinkly Noodle Soup. We both started out spooning a whole heaping tablespoon of chicken into each can. After a while, Danae was dizzy from the spinning table we worked at, so she went to measuring out the noodles for each can. It was an amazing process to witness, and we were glad to think of that soup heading down to Florida for hurricane relief.

Saturday of Labor Day weekend we went to the first UMD football game of the season. We had decent seats since it was Faculty & Staff appreciation night, and Jerry is such an one to be appreciated. They beat Northern Illinois in an unfortunately close game, 23-20. Labor Day began with some labor. Jerry's been steadily working on a paper to submit to a conference; this summarizes much of his free time for the past weeks. It will be done on the 13th of September though. Hurray!

We did have a fun afternoon at Six Flags America. We have season passes to use, and they came with free friends passes that were expiring that day. We couldn't find any friends who could come, so we just approached a nice looking asian family at the ticket booth & gave them the passes. They were pretty confused at first and didn't understand English very well, but once they'd made it through security, they were really smiley & waved excitedly at us whenever we ran into each other throughout the park. That was our good deed for the day.

This past weekend was mostly about getting Jerry's paper done. Friday night Danae went to a stake Sister's Campout (but did not stay to "camp" in the cabins), enjoying s'mores & rural Maryland. There are some wonderfully unpopulated areas not too far from the D.C. Metro area.

Well we will renew our photo taking habits for our next web update. Hope this one finds you well!

Love,
Danae & Jerry

P.S. Danae received a call from Montgomery County and was offered a job today!
