Danae & I have become good friends with the Lotz family (we also home teach them). Mahalia asked me to baptize and confirm her, it was an honor to honor her request! |

What happened this week ... This week has been a busy one of school and work, but we had a wonderful, uplifting weekend! Saturday morning, to kick off Valentine's weekend, I (Jerry) made banana fritters for Danae. Danae has fond memories of her Grandma Pearl making them for her. We both enjoyed them even though I'm sure they weren't as good as Grandma's. After breakfast, Jerry went and played basketball while Danae worked out at the UMD campus facilities. We then enjoyed cleaning things around the house in preparation for our evening outing and Sunday. As stated above, Saturday night we went to Greenfield's Churrascaria for dinner. It is in Rockville only a few minutes from where Danae works. The location was actually good because we were going against the UMD basketball traffic both ways. We also celebrated the UMD win over Duke (although we didn't join the customary riots in College Park [Washington Post Riot Story]). Sunday, was a stark contrast. Since we have church at 1pm we have the full morning to relax and prepare for church. Danae prepared a wonderful continental breakfast and we both read the Sunday School and David O. McKay lessons. Church was excellent and our neighbors from across the road, whom the missionaries have been teaching, came to Sacrament meeting. They are such wonderful people, we are looking forward to going to their house tomorrow to watch the Special Witnesses of Christ DVD with them. The best part of Sunday (for me) was Mahalia's baptism. Mahalia is a bright 8 year-old in the Lotz family. We love the family — they are frequently in our prayers. Although we would have much preferred to have seen her father perform the baptism, at Mahalia's request, Jerry performed her baptism and confirmation. On a different note, intramural basketball has begun again at UMD, and Jerry enjoys the release. Although he didn't enjoy the pounding the team received in their game last week, he enjoyed that he (and the whole team) played better this week — they even managed to win. :)
Love, P.S. We'll have to tell you how our talks go on Sunday — we're also preparing for those! :) |
