Socrates' diet plan was very simple...
One day a friend encountered Socrates jogging around Athens. "What are you doing Socrates?" he asked. "Making sauce for my dinner," Socrates replied. Socrates disapproved of over-eating followed by violent exercise. Better to exercise first, work up an appetite, and then eat when you're hungry.
You can learn more about Socrates' practical advice in Xenophon's Memoirs of Socrates published in the Penguin Classics series.
Incidentally, hard thinking also burns calories.
