Peter Gelzinis's untoward comparison

By Dan Kennedy

Columnist Peter Gelzinis's populist passion is usually one of the best things about the Boston Herald. But his Tuesday piece, in which he tried to draw parallels between the behavior of tax-cheating state senator Dianne Wilkerson and coach-choking hoopster Latrell Sprewell, was out of bounds. Wilkerson and Sprewell share precisely one thing in common: both are African-Americans. For Gelzinis to lump them together was inappropriate bordering on the offensive.
