Sunday Herald to drop price

No official date yet, but look for the Boston Sunday Herald to drop its price from $1.75 to 99 cents sometime in mid-January. The move follows publisher Pat Purcell's just-announced decision to end a three-month-long 25-cent weekday promotion, which the paper credits with "enlisting thousands of new Herald readers." The Monday-through-Saturday edition returns to 50 cents next Monday. Says a Purcell spokeswoman: "Since the strategy worked so well for the daily paper, he thought he'd try it for the Sunday paper."
