Can't win for losing
By Dan Kennedy
Red Sox fans are only too aware of just how bad pitcher Aaron Sele can be when he's in a slump. But Sele appears to have entered previously uncharted -- and, one might have thought, statistically unchartable -- territory since moving over to the Texas Rangers this season.
Sele got off to a quick start for the Rangers but has been fading of late. How awful has he been? In a preview Tuesday of the Sox's 12-game road trip, the Boston Globe's Gordon Edes wrote that Sele "has gone from 13-3 to 12-7."
No explanation as to how Sele became the first pitcher in baseball history to have a win taken away from him after the fact. Although that's not to say he didn't deserve it.
