of the Forestry Building under construction. The Fairs strove for novel
or superlative attractions, and this was built by the State of Washington
to show off very large specimens of Northwest timber in a dramatic
fashion. It was used for a few decades as a museum, but fell prey to insect
damage and rot and was dismantled in the 1930s.
