Description |
| 0 | Estate-driven divinations |
Most often this occurs when someone or something
has lost more than s/he can bear. Tess feels this
keenly, like an icicle through her spine. More
subtly, her estate calls to her when people,
spirits or things are caused to become more
callous, less emotionally tuned to the timbres of
loss.
|
| 1 | Ghost miracles |
A ghost miracle of loss could make you feel a
twinge of loss, or sympathetic pain for someone
suffering from a great loss. It could also make
you think you've lost your keys, or the remote, or
a beloved teddy bear, but only if you place some
emotional import on those things.
|
| 2 | Lesser divinations |
With a second level miracle, Tess can know what a
person or thing has lost (or could lose) that had
(or would have) a significant emotional impact.
She can divine where things or people that have
been lost have gone. She can feel the emotional
impact of a loss and judge its severity and
consequenses.
|
| 3 | Lesser preservations |
Tess can, with a lesser preservation, cause a loss
to be felt for a prolonged period, thus preventing
any natural healing of the associated emotional
wounds. She can also cause things that are lost
to stay lost regardless of who is looking for
them.
|
| 4 | Lesser creations |
A level 4 miracle would allow Tess to create an
instance of loss, either physically removing the
item/person/idea/memory, or simply creating the
feeling of loss for the beloved thing even though
it is still in the same place it's always been.
This includes determining where the lost thing is
lost to -- whether it dissolves, never existed, or
is now on the Path train to Hoboken.
|
| 5 | Lesser destructions |
Tess can use a lesser destruction to restore
something/one that was lost, or to cause someone
to no longer feel the emotional effects of a loss.
|
| 5 | Major divinations |
A major divination of loss would include knowing
all of the implications and possible future
outcomes from an instance of loss, or gathering
information from places which have experienced a
great loss -- making Tess an excellent
intelligence source in times of war, I suppose.
|
| 6 | Lesser changes |
Tess could use a lesser change miracle to change
the feelings a person associates with loss. She
can also change the nature of an individual's
losses such that they are all now recorded as Lou
Reed songs, or where they originally lost their
innocence they now find that it was actually their
sense of humor.
|
| 6 | Major preservations |
With a major preservation Tess can make a loss
immutable -- nothing can ever be rebuilt where the
WTC towers once were, nothing will ever replace
them in our memories, and everyone will
continually feel the grief and horror, shock and
fear that accompanied their loss.
|
| 7 | Major creations |
A major creation would allow Tess to create loss
on a grand scale, San Francisco could fall into
the sea, the whole of Earth would grieve at the
death of a sparrow, the World Ash would shed its
leaves.
|
| 8 | Major destructions |
Tess can use a major destruction of loss to
restore a prominant part of reality that was lost
-- resurrect Atlantis, bring back Exposition, make
the Red Sox win the World Series. She can also
destroy a society's ability to feel loss, or a
certain type or aspect of loss.
|
| 9 | Major changes |
With a level 9 miracle of loss, anything goes.
Tess could make loss contagious, make emotional
loss impossible to feel without her direct
consent, make it so that everytime you hear an
Avril Lavigne song, an Angel loses its wings.
