The Rites of the Powers of Akraisel

Lady Akraisel is an ancient Ymera, who has lived according to rythyms of the Ash for longer than most beings can imagine. Some measure of this pattern is found among her Powers, as well, for they partake of her nature.

Brilliance

Alec Hollenger, Knight of Brilliance, is often found wandering the byways of the City of Lost Alleys, so that he might speak to and interact with those who might aspire to his Estate. Wherever he goes, a chessboard is to be found, whose moves he contemplates while doing his Lady's work. None have ever seen his opponent, who must be an extraordinary player to challenge the lord of Brilliance.

Desire

It is said that if a man has a desire that he values more than life, and he travels to the palace of desire and passes through its brass gates, and he overcomes all of the tests and difficulties placed in his way, then the Desire's-regal will raise her arm from her throne of eyes and grant him the object of his desire. None return a second time.

Loss

She who has been raised to maintain the order of Loss within the structure of creation is driven by two contradictory impulses. First, she understands and values the essential value of loss to the universe as a whole. Second, because she is kind, she keenly feels the grief that her office brings to mankind. Consequently, she may be found anywhere within the city of Lost Alleys, apologizing to the victims of her work. But her labors do not cease, either.

Story

Shortly after Enoblement, Story knew it was his duty to tell the people of the chancel their histories. He knows that only a unified spirit coupled with a respect for diversity can ensure peaceful cohabitation among the many and different peoples of the chancel. Shortly after commencement, Merlin begins a ritual of telling stories to the public every morning as the chancel wakes.
