The Windy Road: Synopses: Commencement

The session started with our 6 Powers previous to their EnNoblement. Each was in an urban area. [The Power of Cities was not present, his EnNoblement will be handled separately]

Each of the future Powers is confronted by a Golden Rain. A localized (it only seems to happen in their urban area) rain that defies all understanding.

Tess (the soon to be power of loss had suffered a miscarriage. This happened on the 1st day of this strange golden rain. She lives in the urban sprawl that spreads out from New York. It may be the present; it may be the near future; or a recent past that never quite happened. Her husband has become more and more estranged since the miscarriage. Her home life is not good. On her way to the store she has an accident in a tunnel. As she lies trapped in her car the tunnel is flooded by the golden rain.

Nezha (soon to be the Power of Desire) exists in the transhuman future. A future that will soon no longer exist. Part of the East Africa collective, it lives in a dizzying future on sentience far beyond humanity. And than the Golden Rain falls, and falls, and it is unfathomable by these great intelligences. And than the world starts going silent and Nezha, an entity without a body, is carried away in a flood of rain.

Thechari (soon to be the Power of Tea) has existed for millennia, a spirit that represents the tradition of tea ceremonies in the Imperial Palace of China. Than the boy emperor stops coming. Disturbed by this and the strange golden rain she steps forth from the tea room into the garden seeking the emperor to ensure he has the serenity brought by the ceremony. The city beyond the Imperial City is in turmoil, fiery dragons rampaging. She never makes it to the emperor.

Alec Hollenger (soon to be the Power of Brilliance) is in Barcelona Spain using his connections in cloak-and-dagger intrigue to support pro-Republic forces in Spain. The year is 1926 and he is waiting at the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family (Sagrada Familia). The Golden Rain carries him away as he attempts to return to his apartments.

An investigative reporter in Baghdad (soon to be the Power of Story) at the eve of yet another American bombing campaign. He too is carried away by the strange golden rain.

All awaken in a strange city. A vast ocean in the distance can be observed a sea of roofs, and our newly EnNobled Powers find it difficult to have knowledge of the dark streams of people than of the denizens of some unknown ocean. From their individual perspectives the city is a heaving and restless place, with its own torrents and billows, its foam and spray. The sound of its streets is like the murmur from a sea shell as if the great fogs of the past have taken form and they could believe themselves to be lying on the floor of the ocean. Even amid all the lights it may simply be the ocean bottom, among the luminous, gliding fishes. This city is a place of silence and mysterious depths. A fascinating city lost in a space- time limbo where bazaars and caravan routes appear side by side with skyscrapers and traffic jams.
