Silvia Maria Kobayashi, the future Duchess of Cities, resides in her town house in San Paulo, recently returned to money and social status in her homeland. In the square outside her home there is a faithless mob assembled, and tonight they seek vengeance, to cast some outrage against their collective self into the deepest pit to Hell. And than the golden rain starts and Ms. Kobayashi finds herself nowhere. Slowly sensations return and she realizes that her limbs are vast, that her voice rumbles, that she is covered in tiny life. Just as her consciousness begins to come to grips with this state, she materializes in the square before the Tower of Babel. The other Powers depart the meeting with their Imperator to find a taint upon some people of the city. Some shared of hell, of corruption, has materialized in their midst. Using the grief and anger of the crowd, it turns them into faceless parts of a mob, a hydra of vengeance. Without thought the Powers begin to experiment with their new miraculous powers. A city police of Atlanteans in Orichalucum chariots wielding crystalline technology are assembled. They quickly cordon off the mob-hydra as the Powers wade in. Through Miracle, Courage and Strength of Will they defeat this elemental force of corruption and wash its stain from their Chancel. The Powers begin to explore their homes. Desire and Brilliance argue over the nature of the soul and of creation. Loss dances to a new jazz of melancholy. Agents of the Semiotic Liberation League are met, and their plot foiled before it can begin. And the new bureaucracy of the city takes form through the miraculous actions of the familia. And the first gateway to another Chancel is found. A gateway to a land of the dead. The Powers stymied by its alien nature decide not to investigate further at the current time. |
