The domain theoblogical.org is now active. All of the messages posted under mywebpages.comcast.net are also at theoblogical.org, and I will begin posting at theoblogical.org,, so switch your subscriptions and blogroll links (replace "mywebpages.comcast.net" with "theoblogical.org" and you're set! I will be notifying blogs4God, eatonweb, and others tomorrow. I will check Google for references to "mywebpages.comcast.net/dature" and notify folks. mywebpages.comcast.net/dlature will stay put for quite a while, only I won't be updating there after today(but I'll copy my rss files to those directories so updates and notices will get a chance to get noticed.

If anyone out there has any suggestions/advice for me on good ways to get things re-addressed and notifications to happen, let me know! I'm still learning! Thanks for reading and commenting. I feel a bit of a rush, seeing that domain name instead of "users.someprovider.net/dlature".

Is there anything with RSS and News Aggregation and/or syndication that will help me in my quest to move my blog to another address and direct people who find my old address to the new, and people who subscribe to one of my RSS channels can get notified?

Has anybody asked about creating subcategories in Radio? With an XML structure, this is possible, No? And if the Calendar function that is used to find archived postings is also XML, then why can't a calendar also be used for something like, uh.... calendaring....in other words, scheduling? The reason I ask is because such features would make building a Church Weblog so ideal for creating a Church site.

I could foresee being able to post to a Weblog , and fill in a calendar using things like "Radio to the Past" and "Radio to the Future". If a category were set up named "calendar", and posts to the "calendar" category would be posted by date just as all posts are now, then any day selected would, as it does now, bring up the page of posts for that day. If Calendar category posts consist of descriptions of that event, with "Titles" for Each post for that day (using the Post Title feature that one can turn on or off in Radio, allowing one to assign a title and a link for every post, and the default link is the permalink URL for that post, then there is a way to list posts to that date in the calendar section by Time of Day assigned to that event.

I'm going to start setting up a "ChurchBlog" section with a "ChurchCal" for a ChurchCalendar, and using RadioTothePast plus RadioToThe Future to post to it, experiment with how a ChurchBlog might work.

I keep having a problem with this. (Now fixed....it seems) It keeps posting to my home page.(my script was written over when I reinstalled Radio....whoops) before: I keep having to move it using the Radio editor and the category assignment checkbox. I guess that is not ready for prime time.(But maybe it's me that's not ready)..... I need to keep looking until someone has a solution. My problem may be that I am always loading the www and DataFiles back and forth between home and work (and recently also the Tools folder). (that turned out to be part of it) I move those as well since the files in Tools seem to be getting updated each time.

My Calendar in MyRadioTrials will not display the July link at the bottom of the August Calendar. Instead, it has a link to August again. What's up wid' 'dat? (later the next day: editing a page in August and re-streaming fixed the problem. I dunno why it happened).

I found how to change the IDs back to what they were when comments were made, thus restoring the comments to the right entry. I have replaced 3 or 4 of them, but there are more that I did not find this morning. I will be fixing those over the next few days, to the best of my ability, and remove all the messages on the entries about how "these comments really belong to this other entry" .

I did it by opening the Radio app and editing weblogData.root and changing numbers by assigning a new, unused number to one of the two entries in question, then assigning the second one the original ID of the first, then assigning the 1st one to the original number of the second, and changing the time if needed to have it appear in the same place on the page if chronological order is significant. Cool!

Since I didn't sort out and edit any news at all today, or add any comments or basically did not touch my blog while at work today, I decided when I got home to just fire up Radio without updating it with the DataFiles and www directories from the work copy. My opml started working again as soon as I did an eidt and uploaded it (It must have refreshed my homeTemplate and fixed the opml problem, indicating that something went awry with the work copy.) All is okey dokey now.

I grew up in the Southern Baptist Church, was part of a dynamic, close-knit youth group at the First Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY, was deeply involved with the Baptist Student Union at Murray State University in the mid 70's (1974-78), and got an M.Div. at Southern Baptist Theolgical Seminary (SBTS) in 1981. I often refer to my Seminary education as coming "just in time" before the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention, and the subsequent "theological cleansing" of the leadership roles in the denomination from SBC President to missionaries and Seminary Presidents and professors. The professors I had from 1978-81 at SBTS are now scattered to the four winds, teaching elsewhere (the younger of them, since the older ones would be retired now, but probably retired from somewhere other than SBTS, having left the focus of the "witch-hunt" and found teaching positions where real education was still valued). read more in "The Southern Baptist Convention"

This "trackback" feature seems like the ticket for spreading the interactivity of the Weblog. To be notified when someone has commented on your blog is a powerful feature for enhancing dialogue, I would think. From RadioFree Blogistan

I just heard one of the guys on the Fox crew say that "Sosa has sort of cooled off with the power numbers". Uh.....Thursday, TWO days ago, he hit 2. It's absolutely amazing how little these guys actually watch and pay attention. I'm not even a Cubs fan, I just watch Baseball Tonight and Sportscenter, and I saw that Sosa did that. In fact, two days ago, there were HEADLINES about how Sosa stole the show from Bonds. Amazing how some of these guys get a job doing baseball.

Now, later that same night, Sosa has hit 3 more homreuns. That's 5 in the last 3 games. But in that middle game, he was "cooled off". He was hot Thurdsay, hitting his 34th and 35th. COLD COLD on Friday. NO Homereuns! Hotter than ever on Saturday. Now his statements look even dumber.

The "Blogroots" site doesn't have "permalinks'? What's up with that?

I was noticing as I linked to an article about deep linking from the Blogroots site, that this link will be useless as soon as that content drops below the line of sight on the Blogroots Home Page. I use permalinks whenever possible (as do many of the tools that allow for easy linking...such as Radio Express). I'm gonna email 'em and ask "what's up?")

My Balcony People is an old-style Web page cluster with some people who have influenced me. I'm fascinated with figuring out how to take advantage of the Weblog as it is provided for in Radio: With its Categories, I can have a "People" page, where I can expound about the ways different people have affected me. I still wish we had a way to do subcategories, or that I could find such an animal. Anyway, look at these people, and come back and comment. It's neat to be able to swap stories about how someone has changed your life, or how they have influenced you from afar.

Before I go home, I feel the need to be theoblogical..........I've been posting some "openers" to some of my Categories that I cleaned up and re-did last night , mainly so the "Comments" would start working again, which they did. The point is, is to actaully GET some comments. Somebody I would not have known had they not told me they posted, did post to one of my blogs yesterday, and I was thrilled. The theoblogical thing here is that this is all creating a new way of interacting, because there's a framewrork of sorts (Stream of Consciousness; journal type entries, Direct commentary on some particular news item, or "Stories", any of which point to other Weblogs, sometimes other non-weblog-but-still-Web items, and then there's News Aggregation that lets us all subscribe to updates to each other's blogs, which is really cool, and then there's "Comments", which isn't really all that active in most places I've seen use it....but I would want to keep it there.

It's the end of the day, and I should have left my desk and headed home by now, and I'll probably be back right at it when I get home about 45 minutes from now (long LONG commute, but I don't mind it so much anymore now that the roads have been improved in this Nashville area)

I've been told that there was no notification features for Radio site editors who want to know when and where a comment has been posted. It seems that since the discussion board Radio uses at http://radio.userland.com/discuss/ has this feature as a checkbox that enables
"Receive direct responses to the message on this page via email." , there should be something similar for comment posts. I already have, after just a few days, way too many posts to easily spy new comments, not to mention any attached to already archived articles.

It seems that Categories need to be further integrated into Radio. It seems the only thing they allow you to do is post separate bliogs to it and create a separate News feed/xml file. They DO NOT, as far as I have experienced it or understood as of yet: Thery don't allow you to send mail that posts to them......they don't give you an index.html page like the Stories list does, and they don't , as someone else here pointed out, have a separate stories list for each category.

Is there a ViewCategories macro that I can use for a categories root file index.txt?

right now I have one that has this:

<%radio.macros.viewCategoryList ()%>

which obviously isn't legit, cuz I get this when I go to it:

[Macro error: Can't call the script because the name "viewCategoryList" hasn't been defined.]

Is what I'm after something doable? Or better yet, has it been done?

I just got an idea for another good Category (again, as I understand the proper or intended use of Categories, which may well be a "Newbie" misunderstanding), which is: My own Radio setup struggles and discoveries. I had my first "Comment" posted on the 7th, which went unnoticed by me , and so I offer my first suggestion or item on my RadioWishList: a notifier for Comment postings (which may already exist, my being a newbie and all). Any such thing?

The Category is there, but that poses another question or wish: Sub Categories and a "Category" Home Page. Anyway or add-on already developed? I also want a way to easily post the link (I have to guess based on the name of the Category, and remove the spaces.
