To do this I had to level the hull, bow to stern and port to starboard
first I took out the concrete ballast
then I started the job of leveling
once I got the hull level I blocked up the trailer so it would stay level through out the job
I first placed braces across the hull to keep its shape, then I got to cut off the cabin top with my saws all
After much debate I decided to put concrete ballast back in, after putting
in the ribs, and not use water ballast.
The concrete only was 2" deep where the water ballast tanks would be 6"deep
and take up half the storage underneath the raised floor( deck?) This is
the shed under the transformation took place. Did you know that in Jacksonville,
Florida the city zoning code does not let you work on a car or boat except
in the back yard, mine was in the side yard, OOPS, After being cited I had
to hurry and finish the job in the 15 day grace period I had.
I finally got SP#1 launched on 12/1/99 and went for a test sail.
I have storage below decks and on the side of the hull
This is the open decked sailboat I always wanted , and finally got, so now I am satisfied
