Derek Lewsey Christopher Reeves will be walking unasisted. Oops :(
Self-powered, lit running shoes from Nike/Rebock etc.Not quite sure what my intent was with this one.
Alice and I will still be in California, only instead of waiting for our Green cards, we'll be preparing for our Naturalization test.Well, we will be elligible to apply for Citizenship at the end of this year, and we have reviewed the online practice questions for the application for naturalization. I'm not sure when we'll actually get the ball rolling, though.
Flat panel displays will be standard with new PCs, which will also typically come with 2 G of RAM, 1 TB hard drives and hardware and software that lets you use it as a Video recorder/editor ala Tivo. The flat panel part is certainly right. It appears to be a challenge to find a CRT these days. (Except of course for the one I'm currently using !:())

Looking at Gateway's site and following the home desktop link, the initial configurations of the machines listed have from 512MB to 4GB of RAM, and from 250GB to 1TB of disk space, with prices ranging from $800 - $4000. The monitors are all flat-panel and range from 15" to 21", High Def widescreen.
At least two major US airlines will have long since folded.Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines have both either filed or are preparing to file for bankruptcy. As have several lesser airlines.
70% of homes with any kind of internet access will have high speed access.According to Nielsen/NetRatings, by February of 2006, broadband users accounted for 68% of internet users.
Andrew and Inge will be living within an hour's drive of Hamilton with their two kids. Two kids? Check.

Closer to Hamilton? Not yet.
Economically, we will be half way through a 10 year bust following the previous 10 year boom. (The Dow will still not have crossed 13000)All I know is, the DOW hasn't hit 12000, much less 13000.
There will have been at least one terrorist action in the US involving biological agents that will have taken on the order of tens of thousands of lives.Nope.
The US will have employed nuclear weapons against at least one Arab nation.Nope.
Cockroaches will be used almost routinely as remotely controlled eyes & ears through microchips implanted directly into their nervous systems.OK. Where did this one come from :) Was The X-Files still on in '01?
There will be a plethora of toys on the market making use of artificial muscles which are quieter and much more energy efficient than electric motors.Again, nope.
There will also be toys on the market that can respond to focused brain activity (not exactly 'thought' control, more like bio-feedback).Still nope.
Toys will be available that form temporary, wireless local networks and that interact with one another based on individual, configurable behavioural rules.Nope.
35% of new televisions sold in the US and Canada will be Flat panel (i.e. wall-mountable) displays and a 32" entry-level model will sell for under $1500.I couldn't find any directly relevant statistics, but did read that an IMS Research study predicts that 2006 will be the year that flat panel sales outperform CRT sales (worldwide).
You will be able to buy a set of eyeglasses that project a television image that only the wearer can see, and that simulates a 32" TV screen at 6 feet for under $3000.Close, but not quite there yet.

Lumusvision is working on the "project into your eye" part, while Icuiti has worked out the "36" TV screen at 7 feet" part (for under $1000).
Andrew Kerr The U.S. will still not have captured Osama bin Laden. True.
Derek will be working as a contractor in Chicago.Nope. Still in NORCAL. (Why Chicago?)
We will have finished painting our house.?
I will return to full-time work for somebody in Ottawa.Correct me if I'm wrong, but still an independent contractor working for a US-company?
Almost everybody will have high-speed internet access. Dialup connections will seem very quaint. (safe bet, I think).Only 30-odd percent left to go.
Somebody you know well will own a gas-electric hybrid car.I don't know anyone, do you?
The Smallpox virus will have been released somewhere in the US, causing havoc and mayhem.Nope. Thankfully. (We sure were pessimistic in 9/11/01)
