UHMW Mark VIII Lower Control Arm Spring Perches
To install 93-98 Lincoln Mark VIII Aluminum Lower Control Arms (LCA's) in your 89-97 Thunderbird, you will need spring perches to locate the spring in the LCA spring pocket. Without a spring perch, the spring has too much room to move around. Additionally, in order to match the ride height of the stock Thunderbird LCA's, a 3/8" spacer, or spring perch base, is required.
Others have sold aluminum perches to fill this need, but they are heavy (3+ lbs. each), and will corrode quickly if not anodized or painted.
These UHMW Spring Perches provide a method to positively locate the springs, the required 3/8" base, and weigh around 1 lb. each. Two versions are offered, both with a 3/8" thick base. A short perch with a 1.6" center height, and a taller perch with a 2.1" center height. The taller perch has the same height as the stock Thunderbird LCA for those who wish to use AirLift air bags and have them function as they would in the stock Thunderbird LCA's. Perches are designed to use Prothane 6-1709 spring isolators (available elsewhere in either black or red - not included).
