Motive Power_______________
The D&L will
start off with an Aristo-Craft Colorado & Southern No. 32, a
type C-16 2-8-0 originally built by Baldwin Locomotive Works.
Although the C&N actually used 2-8-0's built by Brooks
Locomotive Works, this great little locomotive should serve the
D&L just fine.
With Phoenix Sound installed, the C-16 comes alive. Chuffing up the 3% grades; whistle bouncing off the canyon walls; I love it. (Click on pictures to enlarge).

The C&N bought the first Class C Climax (with 3 trucks) in 1897. It was sold in 1899 due to too many derailments. The D&L acquired Bachman's beautiful Class B model (unlettered), which works great.
Many railroads ran these odd looking contraptions as a means to
maintain mail and passenger service during the depression. The
C&N never did, but the D&L crew thought it would be a
nice acquisition anyway. (Ours is actually green, lettered for
C&S).
In the shops, we have several new locomotives: another Aristo-Craft C-16, a Bachman "Annie" 4-6-0 that will be lettered C&NWRR No. 1 (which was actually a 2-6-0), and a Bachman 2-6-0 that will be lettered Colorado Central No. 10, which ran on the C&N before they had their own motive power.

C&N No. 2 Climax sits in the new passing siding at
Sunset which allows multiple train operation without using the
0-5-0 switcher. Track power is routed by the turnouts.
