An eclectic mix of things that interest Dave. |

Yeah, I’m part of one. Here you’ll find stuff about my family members - both older and younger than me. You’ll also find other miscellaneous stuff about me that doesn’t have a home elsewhere. (I’m sure there’s more here than you’ll ever want to know, so read on and see how bored you can get before you give up and go to another page.) What do you get if you put a professional Boy Scout executive and an accountant together? Well, one answer is me! (Two answers are that you get my sister and brother, but I digress.) I was born in Muncie, Indiana (more Muncie info), son of Jan and Charlie. My sister, Diane, was also born in Muncie. After I started first grade, we moved to Kokomo, Indiana (more Kokomo info). I actually attended three different schools in first grade since we lived in a rental for a month before buying a house. Boy, talk about having to make new friends all the time! My brother, Dale, was born in Kokomo just before we moved to Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois (more Oakbrook Terrace info), a distant suburb of Chicago. I attended Villa Middle School (now called Albright Middle School) and Willowbrook High School, graduating in 1975. And in case you wondered, yes I was in the band, and no, I never added any paint to the famous WHS rock. The fall of 1975 found me attending Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. It was there, during my freshman year, that I met Lois, who would later become my wife. We were engaged the next spring and were married on August 19, 1978. We’re still happily married more than a quarter century later. We both graduated from MC in 1979. I earned a BS in Social Work, and an AA in Computer Applications. Lois earned a BS in Psychology and an AA in Computer Applications. Lois’ graduate studies took us to Muncie (back to Muncie for me—remember I was born here) for her to attend Ball State University. I found a job at N.G. Gilbert Corporation working as a computer programmer. Fundamentally, I’m still working for the same company more than a quarter century later. I say it that way because Gilbert was acquired by Townsend Tree Service Co., Inc, from whom I now receive my paycheck. I am currently the Manager of Information Services. We have two kids, Jonathan and Julia. I am a member of the Union Grove Church of the Brethren where I serve as its treasurer.
(Pun alert!) So, here’s the information for which I’m sure you’ve been searching my whole web site: Why did I choose the name I did for my web site? Well, I enjoy puns, and have been known to deliver more than the average person appreciates. My web site name is an example of how I enjoy playing with words. Those of you that have heard of the seventies comedy team of Cheech and Chong have likely heard their famous “Dave’s Not Here” routine. Another love of mine is knot tying. Since my first name is Dave, it seemed only natural to me to tie the two together and name my web site “Dave’s Knot Here”. And now you know the rest of the story! |
