Dennis was appointed
Instructor of Private Flute at the
Community College of Aurora in August 2005 and
taught flute and recorder there through December 2007.
He currently plays solo flute at Park Hill
Congregational Church, with the Park Hill UCC Wind
Ensemble and has formed the Park Hill Flutes as resident
church flute choir. He was music director and conductor
of the Rocky Mountain Flute Choir from 2001 - 2003.
Coordinator, director and performer with the First
Plymouth Flute Ensemble from 1999 - 2005. Dennis has
previously played flute with the Highland Flute Quartet,
CU-Alumni Choir, University of Colorado at Denver Flute
Ensemble, and has substituted for the Jefferson
Symphony, Centennial Philharmonic and the Denver Pops
Orchestra.
Dennis has studied flute with New Zealand flutist and recording artist Alexa Still. He has also been coached by Holly Hofmann, Katherine Kemler, Theresa Beaman, Chris Potter and Cathy Lum Peterson. He is a member of the Colorado Flute Association serving as a Board Member at Large from 1998 - 2004. Dennis was the CFA webmaster from 2001-2004 and the CFA membership coordinator for the 2003-2004 membership year. Dennis has over thirty years teaching experience and maintains an active private studio at Kolacny Music Center in Denver, Colorado. He provides performing opportunities for his students by holding annual recitals. As a teacher he encourages his students in student competitions, honor band and orchestra opportunities and school district's solo and ensemble festivals. Dennis Rawley received a Bachelor of Music in Education
degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Growing up
playing clarinet, he began studying string bass and flute in
college. After college he played bass with the Colorado Springs
Symphony from 1979-1982 and was principal bass with the
Centennial Philharmonic, (now Denver Philharmonic), in Denver
from 1986 to 1990.
