REITER

First Reiter Families in Kautz:

The FIRST REITERS, according to Pleve, were brothers, Christian Reuter and Christoph Reuter (spelled this way on the Pleve charts). Christian Reuter b. 1737 was of the Reformed Faith, a tailor from Kurpfalz, village of Kumande?. Christoph Reuter, b. 1739 was of the Reformed Faith, a brewer from Kurpfalz, village of Kumande?. They arrived together with their families in Oranienbaum (near St. Petersburg, Russia) on 13.09.1766 by the ship "Grapp". They arrived in Kautz/Kauz colony on 21.08.1767, nearly one year later. NOTE: Evidently Pleve is the only researcher to spell Reiter as Reuter -- the name is spelled REITER in later genealogy charts completed by Pleve, and also is spelled REITER in the 1798 Kautz Census.
