The Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Dowbiggin of Kensington Square in the County of Middlesex the wife of Samuel Dowbiggin Esqr. but living separate and apart from my Husband who was by a certain Indenture or Deed of separation bearing date on or about the second day of January one thousand eight hundred and ten made wherein my said Husband therein described of the first part me the said Elizabeth Dowbiggin then of Enfield his wife of the second part and Richard Smith Appleyard Esqr. of the third part after writing(?) amongst other things that in consequence of divers unhappy differences which had long arisen and subsisted and then still did subsist between the said Samuel Dowbiggin and myself we had for many Years ceased to live and cohabit together as Man and wife it is amongst other things Witnessed mutually covenanted declared and agreed by all the said parties thereto and the said Samuel Dowbiggin did for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators covenant and agree to and with the said Richard Smith Appleyard his Executors and Administrators that he the said Samuel Dowbiggin should not nor would at any time of times thereafter during the said Coverture claim or demand take or sue for any of my monies Furniture Plate Linen Cloathes Wearing apparel Goods Chattels or other Effects or Estate of what nature or kind soever which I was then possessed of or entitled to or should or might at any time or times thereafter purchase get acquire save up or be possessed of or which might be devised given or bequeathed to me by any of my Friends or relations or otherwise howsoever and that I should and might have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the same and every part thereof to and for my own sole and separate use benefit and disposal notwithstanding my present Coverture as if a Femme sole and also that notwithstanding my said present Coverture it should and might be lawful to and for me by any Deed or Deeds writing or writings or by my last Will and Testament or any Codicil thereto be duly executed give or dispose of all such Monies Furniture Plate Linen Cloaths wearing apparel Goods Chattels Effects and other Estate which I should or might have as purchased gotten or acquired or became possessed of or which might be devised or be bequeathed to me without any claim demand let suit interruption or disturbance whatsoever of from or by the said Samuel Dowbiggin his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns and that I might at all times thereafter otherwise dispose thereof or of any part thereof as I should think proper notwithstanding my Coverture And whereupon any previous to the Marriage of my Daughter Emily Rebecca Dowbiggin since deceased with John Campbell Cameron of Grays Inn a Settlement bearing date on or about the Thirtieth day of July one thousand eight hundred and Fourteen was duly made and executed whereby I may in the events therein mentioned become entitled to retain parts or shares of and in some Freehold Copyhold and Leasehold Estates Money or Securities in the public Funds or other property in the said Settlement mentioned or referred unto Now I the said Elizabeth Dowbiggin in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority to me given in and by the said in part recited Indenture of separation and in exercise thereof respectively and of all and every power or authority and in any wise enabling do by this my last Will and Testament duly executed give devise and dispose of all such monies Furniture Plate Linen Cloathes wearing apparel Goods Chattel Effects and other Estate which I now have or may purchase get acquire or become possessed of or which is or may be given devised or bequeathed to me or settled in my favor or otherwise howsoever unto the several persons and to and for the several ____ trusts intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned that is to say I give to Nehemiah Meredith of Kensington Green in the County of Middlesex Gentleman the Sum of Fifty pounds to Susannah P_ther the Wife of Ehonias(?) P_ther of Clerkenwell Green the Sum of One hundred pounds to Mary Williams of Great James Street Bedford Row widow and Louisa Charnett(?) of Kensington Square aforesaid the Sum of Five Guineas apiece for Rings I give to my youngest Son William Henry Dowbiggin the Sum of Twenty Guineas to my Eldest Son Samuel Dowbiggin all my Household Furniture plate Linen China Glass Books Wine and other Liquors belonging to me at my Decease or in the House and premises in which I may happen to die for his own use all my wearing apparel of whatsoever description I give to Lucy Dowbiggin the Wife of my husband's Brother Lancelot Dowbiggin and all my Jewels Diamond and other Rings Necklaces Broaches Trinkets of every description and personal ornaments unto my Granddaughter Emily Cameron the only Child of my late Daughter Emily Rebecca deceased now an Infant in case she shall live to attain the age of Twenty one years to be preserved and kept by my Executor for her until that period of she so long lives but in case of her death under the age of Twenty one years I give the whole thereof unto my Son Samuel Dowbiggin if then married and he and his Wife are both living at the decease of my said Granddaughter if not then to my Son the said William Henry Dowbiggin if married and he and his Wife are both living at such the decease of my said Granddaughter if not I give the whole thereof to my Cousin Mary Ann Baker of Mitch___ Green in the County of Surrey Spinster absolutely And as to all the residue of my Estate after payment of my Debts Funeral Testamentary and other expenses be the same of what nature or kind soever I give one Moiety or equal half part thereof unto my said Husband the said Samuel Dowbiggin his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for his and their own absolute use and benefit and the other Moiety or half part thereof I give the Interest or annual proceed thereof unto the said Lancelot Dowbiggin for his life and after his decease I give such Interest or annual proceed unto the said Lucy his Wife is she survives him for her life and upon the decease of the Survivor of them I give the Principal of such last mentioned Moiety unto my said Granddaughter Emily Cameron in case she lives to attain the age of Twenty one years her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever at which time but not before the same to be d____ed respectively _____ but in case of the death of my said Granddaughter under the age of Twenty one years I give such the Residue of the said Moiety unto my Cousin Mary Ann Baker her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever absolutely And it is my Will and desire that such last mentioned moiety of the clear Residue of my property as is or can be converted into money may with all convenient speed be ascertained and laid out at Interest by my Executor in his name on Government Securities transferable at the Bank of England in order that the Interest or annual proceed thereof and of all other property may be paid to the several persons who shall from time to time be or become entitled to the same and in particular that such Interest of annual proceed be paid and applied for and towards the maintenance and Education of my said Granddaughter in case she is living and under the age of Twenty one years at the decease of the Survivor of them the said Lancelot Dowbiggin and Lucy his Wife until she attains that age if she so long lives unto such person or persons as shall from time to time maintain and educate her I appoint the said Nehemiah Meredith Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills In Witness whereof I have to this my Will written on three Sheets of paper to the first two Sheets set my hand and to the third and last Sheet my hand and Seal this Fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen Elizth. On the 7th of Septr. 1819 Admon. With this Will (annexed?) of all and Singular the Goods of Elizabeth Dowbiggin Wife of Samuel Dowbiggin Esqr. Formerly of Kensington Square in the County of Middlesex but late of Putney in the County of Surrey deceased was granted to Nehemiah Meredith the sole Executor he having been first sworn duly to administer the said Samuel Dowbiggin the lawful Husband and person entitled to the personal Estate and Effects undisposed of by this Will having first renounced
