1697
A memorandum dated March 1st., 1697 relates to the "Liverance" of 84 of Mrs. Joan (Thomas) Dowbiggin's sheep by William Procter. The memorandum is witnessed by Christopher Dowbiggin. William Procter of High Winder died about 1727, and Christopher Dowbiggin, of Ewer Clough parish of Tatham, died two years earlier. Another Christopher Dowbiggin, of the same place, died about 1745.

Under date of March 2, 1704, there is a memorandum relating to the "liverance" of a number of Mrs. Joan (Thomas) Dowbiggin's sheep at High Winder by Arthur Nicholson, the memorandum being witnessed by John Coulston and Richard Guy. Arthur Nicholson of Hornby died about 1712. Richard Guy would be one of the Guys of Hornby or Wennington.

An indenture made the second day of July in the sixth year of our Lady Ann, 1707, between Elizabeth Dowbiggin of High Winder, widdow Triphena and Margaret Dowbiggin, of High Winder, spinsters, of the one part and Lancelott Doubiggin, son of Thomas Doubiggin, of HIgh Winder, on the other part witnesseth that whereas, Thomas Winder, late of High Winder, in his life time by his deed poll duly executed, bearing date 11 day of May, 15 year of Charles 2nd did for the consideration of the three mentioned grant, bargain and sell unto Ann Winder and Mary Winder, his two younger daughters, and their heirs for ever all that close and land called Moore Close lying and being in Claughton in Lonsdale, containing three acres or more, then in possession of Thomas Winder or his assigns to hold the same to Ann and Mary Winder and their assigns (for ever), paying yearly unto Edward Croft esqre., the yearly ffee ffarm rent of two shillings and sixpence. As by the said deed poll the said Ann and Mary were each intituled to one moiety of halfe part of the recited premises, and whereas the said Mary Winder did afterwards intermarry with John Robinson of Cansfield, in the said county of Lancaster yeoman, and whereas by indenture bearing date the twentieth day of July 1672 and made between John Robinson and Mary his wife of the one part and Lancelot Doubiggin of High Winder afforesaid and grandfather of the said Lancelot Doubiggin, party to these presents, and the said Elizabeth Doubiggin, then wife of the said Lancelott Doubiggin, grandfather of the other party, the said John Robinson and Mary his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of eighteen pounds therein mentioned to be then paid by the said Lancelott Doubiggin, the grandfather and to the said Elizabeth then his wife, their heirs and assignees, all that their full moiety or one half of the said rented close, to hold the same amongst other things to the only sole and proper use of the said Lancelott Doubiggin, grandfather, and the said Elizabeth then his wife, to be holden of the lord of lords of the fee; and whereas the said Lancelott Doubiggin, the grandfather, is since the making of the last recited indenture departed this life, where by the estate and interest in law and said last recited moiety or halfe part did survive and continue and does still remaine vested in the said Elizabeth Doubiggin; and whereas the said Ann Winder is since likewise dead, but before her death did make her last will and testament in writing bearing date the fourth day of October 1694, and thereby did amongst other things give and devise unto the said Triphena and Margaret Doubigin, their heirs and assignes for ever her said moiety of one half of the said close. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said Elizabeth Doubigin, Triphene Doubigin, Margaret Doubigin, for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to them paid by the said Lancelott Doubigin, have granted and sold to the said Lancelott Doubigin as his actual possession for one whole year to him made by the said Elizabeth, Triphena, and Margaret Doubigin, by indenture bearing date next before the date hereof and by force of the statute for transferring uses into possession, and to his heirs and assignes, all that Meadow land called Moore Close, late in possession of Elizabeth Doubigin, to have and to hald the same for the said Lancelott Doubigin, his heirs and assignes for ever, chargeable nevertheless with the fee farm rent of two shillings and sixpence, payable to the Lord of the Manor of Claughton.
