History and Location of the Rehabilitation Centre for the Visually Impaired

The Centre had its humble beginnings in 1993, in a small rented house in Virudhunagar, with just 5 students. Now, 11 years later, more than 60 students have passed through its portals and are now leading independent lives. Each year there are about 25 students and the Centre is housed in its own building at the following address:

The new building was purchased in 1995 with the help provided by the Y’s Men International TOF programme and by the largesse of the Virudhunagar Y’s Men Club members. Ysm. David G Morris, the Y’sMen International President, inaugurated the Centre in its new home, on January 30^th 1996. A second floor was added to the residence with a construction expense of Rs.1.75 lakhs. The Virudhunagar District Collector, Mr. Krishnan, I.A.S. inaugurated the second floor, on October 2^nd 1997.
