Text Data Base |
What are the basic elements of Text Data Bases? |
Drupelets* |
Drupelets are the atoms of Text Data Bases. Druplets consist of textand some other attributes. These attributes, both required and optional, are detailed
below.
Outlines |
Outlines are a molecular structure that consist of a hierarchical resolutionof some drupelets.
Diarys / Logs |
Diarys and Logs are time-series oriented collections of Drupelets. |
Druplet Attributes |
What attributes are required(*) and what are available? |
Text* |
The text attribute is the central focus of text data bases. This attribute containsthe `body' of the text item. Drupelet text is typically about one paragraph in length, although
there are not (yet) rigid rules about this.
Title* |
The Title of a drupelet is a phrase or sentence that describes thetext content. The title is always present, but it can be flagged as invisible

Referrer |
A label for the drupelet. The referrer is unique in a particulardomain (for example within a document), but there is no guarantee of uniqueness across
different domains or sites.
Universal Locator |
A unique designator for the drupelet across all domains and sites. |
Date/Time |
Several different dates and times might be relevant. Among them aredate of first creation, date of last modification and date of last use.
Author |
The name of the principal author of the drupelet. |
Responsibility |
The name of the person assigned responsibility for the drupelet. |
Authority |
The defining authority (soruce of facts) for the drupelet. |
Markup |
The text in a drupelet may well be marked up according to a numberof different schemes.
Scraping |
What are the sources of text? |
Original |
Original data capture will probably be from many different types of editors, ranging from simple ASCII editing tools, through widely available products like Word
to more sophisticated technologies.
HTML Decode |
An important source of information is text derived from scraping HTMLscreens into drupelets.
