Purpose
The goal in this class is to remove all goals. Imagine life if you are born
and a man appears and hands you a PHD introduces you to your wife and six
kids, you speak six languages, you are the head of Microsoft, and you are
to stand trial next week for corporate fraud. But you have no memory of
the experiences or choices that led you to those outcomes. What good is
that? Life is in the experience. Life is a process and then its goals. You
spend four years in high school and and two hours in the graduation ceremony.
Where is the emphasis to be truly laid. For the only true goal that is guaranteed
is death and taxes, and who is rushing to find them.....
But how long did you build the anxiety and fear of passing the finals, SAT,
picking a college, and finding a job? My father walked blindly into a state
office in Trenton with a masters in Political science and was thriftily
sent down the hall to a man who was starting a new research division in
taxation. The man became a great mentor and friend to my father. Life is
in the process. In this class we will teach you how to remove the fear and
desire over attainment which is followed soon by fulfillment and regret
when we have made the wrong choices. In this class we will learn the process
handed down through the centuries through symbols, comparative mythology
and theology, fables, teaching stories, Fairy tales, historical events,
and medical science. Large emphasis will be placed on the Grail Cycle that
has stretched out from the Nibulgenlied, Parzival, Lord of the Rings, and
up to Star Wars. The coming of age story of the fool who follows his instincts
and the advice of sages to face the evil within him and overcome it to be
able to face his father and enter society as a boon for the community as
his true self. This journey that is the emphasis of the tarot and Runes
will follow the course laid out by Joseph Campbell which he has called the
Hero Adventure.
Other issues that will be discussed are the
fairy tales that help men and women to deal with an inadequate care giving
system that have provided them faulty constructs to develop their self and
world view from.. High emphasis will be placed on the borderline parent
that is represented as one character in two parts; Fairy Godmother and wicked
Step mother.. Other influences will be drawn from stories that free the
inner child from the dragon and his cave in the subconscious's. Lastly we
will learn how every body learns to give up their dreams for aspirations
that lead them back to heal the father and the community.
I am proposing this class as a start to return to the coming of age rituals
that provided sufficient psychological breaks from childhood and the protective
cover of the mother for youths of today of any age to enter the world of
the father and society as their true selves. We have degraded form Cave
Births of Europe and the isolation rituals of the Native Americans to a
cap and gown, a bishops slap, and expensive parties paid for by our
ostentatious parents. Neither do we provide the proper logical and intuitive
growth of our children to sustain our lives and communities in the pursuit
of life, freedom, and happiness; nor the proper psychological break to attain
them. This is an attempt to bring us back to the ancient traditions that
had provided us this service; that has always shifted and manipulated themselves
to grow with our culture.
Intended for
The lawyer who is talented but can not work with the other junior partners,
the white collar worker who woke up this morning to ask this is not
my beautiful house, this is not my beautiful wife, this is not my beautiful
job.., The spouse leaving the house to sleep in their bed for the
first time alone, the struggling talent that seems to find himself only
mustarding up to a McDonalds chef, the x addict who is starting his life
over, or the college student who is undeclared in his major. Any one who
finds themselves in the grasp of transition looking for the comfort, joy,
justification, and reassurance needed to provide the emotional intelligence
to aspire. As Indigo in the Princess Bride had said, If you get separated,
return to the beginning.
