Rev. Robert (Bob) Johnnene OFD Fr. Bob was born in Boston Massachusetts and attended St. Ann School Neponset, Boston College High School, Boston University, Tufts University, and Harvard University, and Epiphany Apostolic Seminary . Fr. Johnnene holds a Mth, MFA, and is a Master Catechist, Master Liturgist, and served as a DRE for many years in the Los Angeles and Boston Diocese. Fr. Bob founded Mission Saints Sergius and Bacchus, a Catholic Franciscan of the Divine Mercy ministry to those who have felt alienated or unwanted because of their marital status or their sexual orientation or other reasons upon his return to Massachusetts in 2002 when he discovered very little being done in this area of ministry. Fr. Johnnene spent more than 45 years as a teacher at the High School, Post Graduate and Graduate levels including teaching at Emmanuel college , Matignon High School, Sacred Heart High School in the Boston Area and in various schools in California Dioceses. Fr. Johnnene is also well known for his work in theater, television and film having received the prestigious Film Advisory Board Best Director and Best Writer Awards and was voted into the Who’s Who of the West for his achievements in education and the arts. Rev. Johnnene directed the New England Passion Play THE CHRISTUS for many years and founded the Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Theater and The Boston Children’s Cultural Foundation. Fr. Johnnene was ordained a Deacon by Cardinal Timothy Manning in 1980 and was received into the Franciscan order and ordained a Priest in 2005. Now in his 73rd year of life, Fr. Johnnene realizes that every thing in his life has been a part of God’s plan. He feels that he probably would not have the faith in God that he has now if he had been ordained back in 1957 when he was supposed to be as a Josephite Father. He feels that He would not have been prepared to minister to all those in his ministry if I had not had the life experiences I have had especially those preparing to marry, or those who have been divorced or are of the GLBT orientation. The Franciscans of Divine Mercy has a preparatory program for those who desire to explore being a Franciscan Sister or Brother, Deacon or Priest or who just want to become a companion of the order. . |
Our ministry is non-denominational, serving all faiths. Though Christian in nature, we believe that all faiths have enlightened paths to the God. Our outlook is that of a Spiritual nature rather than a religious one. We are here to offer, without question, the Word and Sacraments to anyone and everyone who requests them.
Affiliated with The Reformed Catholic Church International, our mission is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, through the ancient church He founded.
