What's New
Feb. 4, 2010 -added Book of Jer3miah transmedia map/more info page Dec 23 - added Methos Chronicles and Harper's Globe more info pages and a few more web series Dec. 7 - Added a description of Transmedia Story Maps - Here are a few of my blogs and rambles on this topic - First, Second, Third Nov. 30 - added KateModern More Info Page and also a new blog with some thoughts on transmedia pitfalls and ephemeral media Nov. 23 - updated the transmedia page and also added some more info pages including one on Valemont - there is a great three part series from Joe Digital regarding transmedia concepts and also a couple of blog entries with some more questions I am having. Nov. 16 - updated the Pioneer Page (find out info about those series that started it all), added a More Info Page - here you can find more info on a web series including reviews, articles and espcially focused on: Transmedia/Derivitive series including links to other sources that compliment/are part of the web series/world as well as science fiction and LGBT (three topics I like a lot : ) For Transmedia/Derivative series, I am developing a TRANSMEDIA NECESSITY RATING - this is a small attempt to rate how integral the web series is to the overall story universe. The rating is done from the perspective of how stand alone are the web series episodes. A rating of 1 means there is not much of a link and the web series can be viewed without needing other sources and that one does not need to view the web series to understand the other sources. 5 means the web series is tied very tightly to other transmedia sources and that part of the web series will not be fully understood without the other sources and that a viewer needs to interact with the other sources to fully understand the web series. With that said - for transmedia/derivative web series, I am trying to list all sources for the universe and also list them in chronological order as released as well as if there is a preferred viewing order. Anyone interested in helping with this fun venture - please give me a holler docwho2100@gmail.com
Nov. 13 - well - this site www.clicker.com is new and has a lot to go to index everything, but it pretty much lists all the goodness that is out there and in a flashy web format. I hope others keep talking about this topic with me too as I really do enjoy it!!!!!!! The world is all about information overload and merging of mediums.
Nov. 11 Still struggling with certain shows on how to classify them genre-wise. Also, finding some of the older web series and even newer ones, push the boundaries of how to define a web series. South Beach is an example, and I think About Schuyler Falls is too. I am including them for now, just like I include animated and machinima. I'll write up more on this soon. I also have a ton of trivia and research I am collecting for now and at some point want to do something with. I have started a few "coming Soon" blurbs on the Odds N Ends page and hope to write up more extended blurbs on those and similar topics. Lastly - I am adding a couple more categories to the category page - transmedia/derivative and a machinima/animated These categories will be duplicates, just like the LGBT category. What this means is a series will still have a main category designation. But if they have one of those elements (animation, etc.), I'll list them in that category too. Oh wait, really lastly - I am going to keep the running total Category page until I hit about 350. Then I will switch over to a sectioned list (like the By Title listings) Um, ok this is really lastly - I am interested in starting a Web Series Blook Club - meaning - we pick a web series and watch it and then discuss, just like a book club would do. If you are interested, please email me - I think this would be fun and a great way to not only watch series but share the experience!!! docwho2100@gmail.com
Nov. 5 Added a Pioneer Page - a list/tribute to those early shows and experiments that might be gone, but not completely forgotten Working on changing the structure of the site to better accommodate the series - still struggling with how best to organize and keep it simple. This type of project is a fun thought process to work through. Still working on the Category concept - someone suggested tags but that means a whole different site structure and I am not up for that. For now, still assigning a main genre and then will put other in ( ) and damn if so many do not make it hard to pigeonhole them :P Finding a lot of great blogs, articles and sites - will eventually update the resources and articles sections - eventually the key term. Nov. 2 Ok - found this article www.variety.com/index.asp?layout=awardcentral&jump=emmys09&articleid=VR1118004432&cs=1 and looking just at this quote - "For example, more than 100,000 submissions came in for the first Streamy Awards, creating a huge task for organizers to sort and select nominees and winners, notes Brady Brim-DeForest, co-founder of the awards and the Web TV news site Tubefilter." 100,000??? OMG I've got a long way to go in putting together this list ;PHome | Web Series by Title| Web Series by Category | Resources and Production Co.| Articles | Odd N Ends | Pioneer Web Series | What's New | Featured Site | Transmedia Story Maps | my story website
