MEDFORD MEETUP IN THE FUR

PAWTASTIC PANDEMONIUM

Warm Waggy Welcomes and Nosey Nuzzles shared by all

It was an Autumn Summer this past Saturday.  Beautiful summer weather graced the pups of Dog Park USA this weekend during their meetup in Medford. The sun was shining, the breeze blowing, there were blue skies and autumn shades of red and gold dotted the green of the trees and grass.  Pups arrived throughout the day and Richter was the first to come to the meetup.  This mellow pup was fast friends with the host of the day Odysseus.  Two pups of the same fold.  Soon other pups started arriving and there were tons of new dogs to sniff and greet with waggy tails.  All the dogs were great all day and barely a growl was heard.

Occasionally some of the little pups got a bit timid with the larger pups but all in all it was a beautiful blending of dogs big and small.  All the dogs shared their noses, treats and water bowls as if they had always been together as one happy pack. The pawty started late with the arrival of Snowie, Sassy and April with their parents. All the pups mingled and did puppy greetings and play as their parents bragged and chatted.

Only one complaint was heard from any of the pups and that was that some wished to play off lead in the dog park.  However since most of the dog run is only enclosed by a natural barrier of trees and thicket instead of a fence some of the pups would not have been allowed to roam free.  So all the pups played on lead just out the park and had a great time!

To sum it up - It was a dog gone good day and furry fun was had by all!

Check out all the cool pictures!!

Nose News is Good News

So many interesting smells so little time.

This is a problem that plagues all pups.  The solution… put your smell there so you don’t have smell anything else.

This fad started by Jovi early in the meetup caught on with the other dogs.  Jovi known to have peed on his mommy as well as almost peeing on Odysseus’s mommy knows just how well this technique works.  Murphy also decided to try it… removing scents from Brutus’s stroller.  Unfortunately Murphy was caught by the paparazzi and his anti-smell solution is out there for the world to see.  Watch the video yourself here!

Murphy's got a nose for news!

Pumpkin Piñata Pawty

Molly the Pinata Queen digs in. As Empress Mimi stands watch

One... two... three... rip!

That is what the parents were expecting, but how are we pups supposed to know that a giant orange thing has treats inside.  Most of the pups smelled and looked at the strange contraption, satisfied their curiosity and moved on, but one pup just knew there was more to it.  Molly just stuck her nose in and got those treats!  She sat happily eating and knew the joy of the piñata!  As the treats poured out other pups joined in the fun and ate their hearts content (or what their parents let them).  Molly has officially been crowned the Piñata Queen, for saving the day and destroying one tough pumpkin piñata!

Scuffle at the Park

It is everpup's worst nightmare....meeting that dog that no matter how friendly you try to be you just can't get along.  Sometimes the other pup just rubs you the wrong way or won't leave you alone.  It is an unfortunate fact of dogginess that some pups just can't get along.  At Dog Day there was only one scuffle throughout the entire day.  It involved two little white pups and then escalated to include more dogs.  One was our little Meagan with her cute Westie ears and pink bandana.  While Brutus was making his escape, she and another little white pup were checking each other out with a little meeting sniff when one thing lead to another and the scuffle started.  Soon a spitz was involved and then a little bulldog ran to join the fracas.  Luckily Meagan was scooped away before the fight involved more dogs and the little bulldog and white one really began.  No pup was seriously injured to our knowledge and as always we hope all you pups stay safe and have fun at the dog park. The fight broke up before we had to contact our on call police pups!  Otherwise, Officer Muggsy would have had to lay down the law.  We are just so glad to have barked with Meagan and ensured she is doing fine!

Sami... Vampire Dog??

Sami who was second in the smallest pup contest is no where to be found.  “Obviously the pup could just be camera shy but there isn’t even a tail to be found anywhere.  Don’t you think that is a little strange?”  said one anonymous source.  Somehow this cute pup is not in a single picture yet obtained from the meetup.  Rumors are flying that sweet Sami may have been bitten by a vampire and no longer can have his picture taken. Personally this reporter thinks it is just a lot of Halloween hype or a ploy to sell garlic to pups who can’t eat it.  Either way big sorries are sent to Sami for the lack of photos of your cute smiling face and fluffy tail.

Rumors Fly About New Pup Pop Group

This just in… a new pup pop group may be on the rise.  Seen here.  Four large dogs with pointy ears may be forming a new pop group called Four Pointy Ear Dogs.  The members would be Empress Mimi, in the lead.  Molly the Sweetest Pup, Gizmo and Odysseus.  Anonymous sources say that they have hired one Jovi to destroy the competition one CD at a time.  Some say this photo is a group shot being sent to some record companies to make sure their image is right.  Others say it is just that they want a treat a little girl is holding.  We will keep you posted as news breaks.

Tail of an Altruistic Pup

One pup made a great sacrifice to help make our fantastically fun meetup a success.  Pinky a female Chihuahua with a big heart despite her small size allowed her mommies to help at the meetup without her.  She is not a big fan of other pups especially those of the large variety and so she knew she would be a handful at the meetup.  So to make things easier for her mommies to help she woofed and said it was ok to leave her at home.  We just wanted to bark her tale of sacrifice to all you pups.

Odysseus's Corner

I just had to send out my bark bark and say how great it was to meet all you pups!! I just love meeting other dogs and it was great to see you cute little noses and waggy tails.  I wish I could have played with all you pups all day!! I also wanted to say sorry to Gizmo... mommy explained you didn't mean to step on my belly and I am sorry I got a little touchy but it hurt.  I know you didn't mean to and I am sure we can get together and play another time!  I wish all you pups could meet me at the park every day and we could just romp and wrestle.  Thanks for coming and I can't wait to see you all again really soon!!

Escape Artist Extraordinaire Makes His Public Debut

It was a warm sunny day and all the pups were busy saying hello.  Brutus a small pup was being held by his mommy and let down to say hello to some of the pups.  Suddenly Brutus decides that it is time to show his wily ways.  Brutus a.k.a. Houdini Hound a.k.a. Escape Artist Extraordinaire gave a magnificent display of his skills running cross country and escaping narrowly from every ones attempts to get the pup.  Lured with pizza and various treat he made deft dodging coming in close for the food but always running free in the end.  After a few minutes the owners were joined by other parents trying to help contain the dashing dog.  Although that may have stopped the Sly Brutus from progressing further towards the playground it still didn't aid in his capture.   Spuds kept asking his mom to allow him to herd the pup but at first she kept Spuds away trying to let his parents gain control.  Richter was the first pup on the scene to help. He stood quietly by his mother's side keeping Brutus from going anywhere dangerous.  Evading capture at every turn Pudgy Brut's brother watched from the distance in disbelief.  Comforting his mommy, Pudgy kept a calm demeanor and a positive attitude about the eventual capture of his fur sibling.

Wonderdogs came to the aid sending out more treats and a trainer to help the parents get the pup.  Brutus, wise to their plans made sure that he ate the treats but never got close enough to allow a well placed grab.  Spuds now joined in the herding but still Brutus evaded detainment. After several more minutes the pup had a new obstacle to face in his quest for free running- a corral!  The corral  was brought out and Brutus's family stayed around it with his mommy inside.  Even with the promise of food and mommy Brutus continues his brilliant display of escape artist techniques.  He entered and exited the corral several times without being caught within it wiry walls.  Finally his parent brought a bowl of water.  Brutus, confident that all in attendance that day knew he could give Houdini a run for his money decided it was time to return to the care of his mommy.  Water was the key and as he drank the corralled closed and Brutus found himself safe and in his mommy's arms.

Odysseus was asked after the incident what he thought about the events.  "It was great!  Nothing is funnier than watching a bunch of people trying to herd.... Brutus was amazing out there and I think it was one of the most amusing parts of the day.  Well after he was safe again at least. Thats' why I decided to join in on the free running fun!

"You see right after Brutus was safe and leashed I shook my collar and went running through the field.  But mommy told me to sit... and you all know how mommy's can be, so I sat and she hugged me and petted me until the girls came with my collar.  I gotta give Brutus kudos.... he is one slick pup!"

We Don’t Need No Balls

Pins, dogs and lots of fun!  That is the best way to describe the newest doggie sport- Puppy Bowling.  So you need some two liters or water bottles with just a bit of water to help them stay upright.  Then that’s right pups you run at them an knock them over!!  Several of the Dog Park USA’s pup bowled into action.  Richter took out one pin and Murphy was a gutter pup. Pudgy did well taking out a pin, but the stars of the day were Esperanza and Jovi.  Those pups have bowling in their blood.  Esperanza took out 4 pins and Jovi 5 making him the winner of the day!

Tasty Treats Fly

The tastiest sport on the block,  Catch the Biscuit was a popular game amongst the DP USA dogs.  Jovi, Spuds, Empress Mimi, Molly, Gizmo, Odysseus, Sassy and Snowy all competed.  Although only Sassy and Snowie scored any points, all the pups ate their treats happily.  Snowie placed third in the contest overall; this included all the dogs who participated the entire day.  Sassy  a veteran at catching things was second with 5 catches!! Old Dogs Rule!! Only one pup bested the DP USA participants-a dog named Bozworth.

Dueling Murphies

Is more than one Murphy one Murphy too many?? There were dueling Murphies at the meetup in Medford. One fluffy little Shih Tzu and one black and white boston terrier!! They were both great little pups!!  But Murphy #2 made sure his presence was known!  He was quite the barker while Murphy #1 was quiet as can be.  Everypup knows  how hard it can be when two pups share the same name, but we all loved both Murphies jsut the same! Murphy #2 was even granted a title for the meetup.... Sir Barks Alot!! laugh out loud

Ginger Left Not Holding a Bag

The early bird may get the worm but the early dog doesn’t get the bag.  Ginger who stopped by Dog Day early in the morning said some hellos and then went off to play.  She left before the meetup started and had planned to return.  However, there was no returning of Ginger.  Hence Ginger’s bag was left… sitting… and with out a dog to enjoy it.

Horrified at this Odysseus, the host, decided something must be done.  Luckily Ginger wanting to play with all the small dogs of the world… or at least of Mount Laurel… signed up for a pup playdate on Monday.  Odie left the house determined and managed to save the day…. Well he managed to get Ginger her well deserved just desserts!

Sightings of disguised African Beast at Park

Just in... April the cute little toy poodle may not be a resident of NJ after all.... She may not even be from the US.  Rumor has it that this little cutie may actually be a native of Africa.  Not only that the scandal goes deeper. April may not even be from the Canus species! These pictures taken after the meetup show that April may not be a dog but a giraffe in disguise.

How could this mastermind fool all the dogs?  How could a giraffe be voted Winner of the Smallest Dog competition?  Obviously she is a master of disguise and has a new size mutation, but the photos don't lie. We leave it to you the readers to decide.. Giraffe or Toy Poodle.

Winner's Circle

Booty Wiggles and Giggles

How well can you shake your booty!! Come on pups wag that tail and get that booty moving!! In the contest for best booty wiggles it was a tough choice.  All the pups were super friendly and everypups' butt shaked when the pups meet.  It was a vote for the best and there were two pups that stood out above the rest.  Spuds and Esperanza were the nominees and no one could decide.  They each had their own unique bottom shake. So with much deliberation both took the win. Spuds and Esperanza were the  each received prizes for their butt wiggly prowess!

Fluffy as a cloud

Some pups may have mistaken this fluffy white pooch for a cloud on the ground.  Her personality was as fluffy as her coat too.  The contest for most fluffy was easy as pie...pumpkin pie... or maybe the yummy pumpkin cookies served at the meetup. Snowie was a puff of a pup and she easily took the fluffiest pup at the meetup.... and probably the park. She received a prize for her puffy presence!

Winner of the Dogster Plus Drawing!!

A Special Tribute to the Pups who Couldn't Make it to the Meetup Due to Illness

Unfortunately there were two pup families that were unable to come on Saturday due to illness. Our heart and thoughts go to both of these families in their time of need.  We ask that each of you take a moment in thought or prayer for these pups.

Rusty, Missy and family had to remain at home because Rusty's condition took a turn for the worse. His family feared the worst and thought Monday it may be the day that he would cross to the green fields of Rainbow Bridge.  However, he managed to eat and go for a walk.  He is stilling pulling through and the family hopes that people will keep praying for Rusty and light a candle for him.

Idgie, Patches Grace,Jordan Savanna and their family also were unable to attend.  Idgie was diagnosed with widespread cancer on Monday October 1.  Idgie passed away on Monday October 8 at 2:30 PM.  She was the angel of her mother's heart and now she is at the bridge watching over her as a guardian angel. Please light a candle and say a prayer for Idgie's family.

In Loving Memory of Idgie

Here is a Memorial
Of one
Who possessed Beauty
Without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence,
Courage without Ferocity,
And all the Virtues of Man
Without his Vices.

Whoa, The Greatest Day!!

Guess what pups?!?! I went to one of the dogster meetups today in Freedom Park in Medford, NJ! BOL! What a load of fun! I met doggies from all around this area, some from NJ, some from NY, and there was even some doggies there from Maryland! There were contests, prizes, and we all got a little giftbag to take home with the yummiest treats!!! I shared mine with Macy and Dixie (they didn't go since they are sometimes not so nice to other doggies). The bags had a tag with our picture and name on it!! There was also a pinata in the shape of a big pumpkin that us pups were allowed to bust open and then eat all the yummy treats stuffed inside!! SO PAWSOME!

A special thanks to Odie's mommy, she set everything up and ran the show! She did such a grreat job! Odie was a good greeter too, he is such a nice doggy!! I am so glad to have met him and all the other great doggies there! BOL!

Everything was cool about this day, even the car ride there! You will never believe what, or should I say, who I saw on the way there!!! SPIDERMAN!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, he was standing right on the side of the road, waving at people to get them to come to a hair cuttin store!! I love my groomer Mary, but if I was allowed to go to a hair cuttin store that SPIDERMAN worked at???? Wow, it would sure be a tough choice!! Mommy said she doesn't think that this hair cuttin store specialized in doggies though.

Then we took a ride through the old hood, since it was on the way to the park. I saw 5 horsies!! Then while we were at a stoplight, we saw my mom-mom drivin in her van!!!

Now I have to take a nap, then get changed into my Rangers bandana!! Me and my bestest pal Lily have Rangers bandanas and we both wore them for the season opener and they did pawtastic!!! Lily said she put hers on today!! Lily lives way accross the Atlantic Ocean in the Czech Republic!!! Even though we are far apart, she is my bestest bestest pal!!! Me, Macy and Dixie just sent her a box with her Rangers bandana and some treats in it!! She looks so so adorable in both her bandanas!! A lot of the players from the Rangers were born in the Czech Republic and one is right down the road from her!!! BOL!!!

Well, the Rangers are up in Ottawa tonight!! Ottawa is a tough team, but we hope to give em a run for their money!! Mommy said we can get chicken fingers for supper and watch the game tonight!! YES!!! We have a hockey package where we get all the games played in the NHL, so we can always see the Rangers!!!

Better go get in a short nap before the game!!!

Let's go Rangers!!!!
Chewies!

NJ Dogster Meetup & Updates

October 7th 2007 6:52 pm   [link to this entry]

The Dogster meetup yesterday was so much fun! I met so many pups like Odysseus, Murphy, Jovi, Molly, Mimi, Esperanza, Brutus, Pudgy, Spuds, Richter, and many more! They were all so sweet and adorable. Snowie and April also got a go. We got cool goodie bags with home made treats(half of which I have devoured already). Bol!
When we got there, Brutus was loose, and it took them about 40 minutes to catch him! Poor pup, but we're glad he's safe. :)
April won smallest dog(I think she may have tied with that papillon, but I can't remember) and Snowie won fluffiest! Esperanza and Spuds tied for Wiggliest butt!
Mom chose the giraffe costume for April and got a Dogster tee from Snowie's win.
Snowie and I also entered in the treat catching contest. Snowie caught 4 or 5 and I caught around 7. That was fun! We took A LOT of pictures. Some are up on my page now. April and I slept all the way home! Snowie tried to, but she always has to stay alert in the car for some reason.

Anyway, updates on my health. I'm still peeing blood, but atleast I'm not throwing up. I pee in the house at night, but grandma doesn't care as long as something is coming out. If it ever comes to a time where I can't pee, then there will be a hard decision to make. She isn't sure if they're going to want to do ANOTHER surgery on an old girl like me. Mom's staying positive though! I'm still happy and pretty active for my age. :)

Woof,
Sassy

Turnpikes and Turns

October 7th 2007 2:40 pm   [link to this entry]

Well pups, we got home from a road trip to New Jersey to attend a Dogster meetup throught the group Dog Park USA. It was about a 3 hour drive for us.

We stayed overnight in Mount Laurel. Mom was impressed with this part of New Jersey. It's very pretty. However, Mom got thoroughly confused with New Jersey roads.

There was this thing we had to travel on for a bit called a turnpike. We have a turnpike in Maryland called the Baltimore Pike. It's no big deal, just the same as other roads.

Pups, this turnpike thingie is WEIRD!! Mom drives to the entrance to the NJ Turnpike and starts to panic. There's 2 choices and she has to make one of them.

1) Go in the lane that says EZ Pass. She knows what that is. There's a thingie that attaches inside the windshield that a radar-type thingie reads it as the driver drives through and pays the toll. Mom does not have an EZ Pass, as in our part of Maryland, there are only 2 tolls, and Mom rarely uses them. So, #1 is not an option.

2) Go in the lane that says Tickets. Mom's puzzled. Ticket? Where does one purchase a ticket? At a visitor's center that we passed? At a local NJ department of transportation office? Uh oh, what to do?

So Mom decides on #2 because she would surely get a fine without an EZ Pass, as they take piccys of your license plate. That wouldn't be good, as it's our first trip for all of us to New Jersey.

Maybe there will be someone in the booth in the Ticket lane she can talk to.

So, she drives up to the booth in the Ticket lane. There's nobody there!!! Then she see a button on a contraption that's attached to the booth. A car honks from behind. From the back of the Siberian Utility Vehicle, I yell "Push the button!". Mom does, a ticket spits out. The car honks again. I then yell "Take the ticket and floor it!". So Mom takes the ticket, still confused, and drives off.

Wouldn't you know it, it all worked out! We drove on the Turnpike for a while and then went to our exit to our hotel. We approached some toll booths. One lane said EZ Pass. Nope, we couldn't go on that! Another lane said Cash. Mom drove to that lane and approached the toll booth. There was somebody there in the booth!! The lady in the booth held out her hand. Mom guessed this was for the ticket. The lady rang up the toll, and Mom paid the cash. We were then on our way.

Yeesh! Mom's sooooooo slow! Thank God she's got me yelling out directions! I did the same thing when we were traveling on the 95s. Those interstates are EVIL! People drive crazy, way too fast, don't use turn signals, and are just rude. Well, it's the same thing around DC on 495. That's why we don't go there.

It's good to be a rural pup!

Yikes, I nearly forgot aboutth turns!

Did you know you can't turn left in New Jersey? Our hotel was on this road called 73. Mom left us at the hotel room while she went in search of food. So, down the busy 3 lane she goes, looking for dinner. She sees something on the left that looks good to her. She's in the middle lane, so it's relatively easy to shift over to the left lane to turn left.

Well, as she goes to the left lane to turn left, she sees two signs that freak her out.
1) No U-Turn
2) No Left Turn

Mom's jaw drops to the floor. What to do???? Maybe she can turn left at the next intersection. As she approaches, she again sees the same two signs! Well, she starts grumbling now. Good thing I wasn't with her, otherwise I might have learned some new vocabulary words.

Then, she sees this weird sign on the right hand side of the road. It says "All Turns Are Taken in the Right Lane". Mom's confused. She has to turn left, but she has to go all the way over to the right lane to take a left turn??????

Sure enough! Mom makes it over to the right lane and turns right at the next intersection. Then she has to turn around in a driveway and approaches the interesection. Of course she has to wait for the light to turn green for her to cross the intersection. Of course there's no green left turn arrow. So she waits, then she turns left. Mom shakes her head in confusion.

Pups, I do not mean to dis New Jersey at all. That poor state gets too much dissing as it is! But, in order to turn left you have to take a right turn????

Brutus's Bark

I ran away at the Dogster meetup!!!

October 6th 2007 2:56pm   [link to this forum]

It started off as a fun day. I was so excited to be going to Medford, New Jersey for the dogster meetup!! I was pretty good on the car ride there I ate dingo bones and played with all my toys mommy brought for me and pudgy. Pudgy was crazy in the car...Jumping all over the place and not sitting stilllaugh out loud
When we got there mommy put me in my carriage and she put pudgy's dogster shirt on. She left me naked laugh out loud because she was gonna dress me when we started taking pictures. So the day was still going great. Freedom park was so big and so nice!! As we were walking down to see all our friends from dogster we saw some tents and one had all dog trainers and I saw a big poodle in the little fence thing.
Then we got over by all the dogsters!! I met Odysseus first but he kinda scared mebig laugh Pudgy was't scared of him though. Odysseus was the host and his mommy was so nice and made a great meetup!! Then me and Pudgy met Jovi!! Jovi was so cute and his mommy was nice!!
We met spuds to!! Spuds is so cutebig grin Then we met Esperanza!! Esperanza was so cute. We both got along well with him!
We met many other dogster dogs too!!
Then it was time for our group photo!! Mommy took me out of the carriage but still forgot to dress mebig laugh After the pic daddy said he will take me on a walk. Mommy said she didn't know if I would go. So then daddy started to walk me and I just got really scared and stared to shake and I got out of my collarshock OMD my mommy got soooo scared!!! She didn't know what to do because we weren't in the fenced in area. She just stared crying and running after me. Everyone ran up to where I was and tried to catch me. I was running so fast...mommy thought I was gonna run into the woods or the street.frown She didn't think she would ever catch me. Everyone tried to grab me but I was just to fast and I had nothing for people to grab me with...no collar....no shirt...no leash. So everyone gave mommy food for her to give to me to try an catch me....But that didn't work I just took the food and ran. Oh and whoever had that chicken and corn and mashed potatoes dish from KFC...that was soo yummylaugh out loud I don't remember who gave it to mommy to give to me but whoever did thank youlaugh out loudThen my aunt wanted to come and try to help so Spuds mommy held pudgy! Thank you to her to!!
Ok so anyway...it was about 45 min and I ate A LOT of food by now so then the dog trainer from the booth came over and told mommy to make a trail of the treats...but it still wouldnt work.
Remember that poodle I saw in the fence thing. Well the trainer brought over the fence and told mommy to go in it .... Of course I was scared of it. But someone gave mommy pizza and she kept braking up little pieces and throwing it to me..I went in the fence like 5 times but it still wouldn't work. Then daddy brought me over a bowl of water because he knew I was thirsty. I right away ran in and drank it....Then mommy picked me up and daddy closed the gate. OMD mommy was sooo happy!!!big grin
When everyone was trying to catch me Murphy came in and I wanted to go say hi to him but everyone was trying to get me. OMD murphy is so cute and tiny!! His mom is so nice to i'm glad we finally got to meet!!!!
Then daddy took me back to where we were sitting before where all the dogsters were. I was safe in my cariage this time though. Then I met sassy, April , and snowie!! They are all so cute and april's shirt was adorable!!
We left the meetup a little early becuase it was very hot and bru needed water from all the running.
I'm sorry I didn't get to talk to everyone that much. I had no idea this would happen to bru it was so scary. But I did have a great day except for that. We got gift bags with YUMMY homemade treats and we got to pick out toys!!
It was a great meetup!!way to go And I am so happy that I met all you pups!!

I've Busy Meeting Dogsters!

October 8th 2007 6:24 pm   [link to this entry]

Wow, I can hardly believe how busy I have been in these last 2 weekends!

First, 2 Thursdays ago I went to Chicago with Jovi and the Moms! It was a fun drive and that was just the beginning! We stayed with our pal Nya and her Sis! Then, Sadie, Hope and their Mom got there! Woo Hoo! 5 doggies in one house! I had a blast! I also discovered there are a million squirrels in Chicago!

Friday we went to a dogpark in Wood Dale and met Xena and parents and Flash and his Dad! We had a birthday party for Hope and met a bunch of Xena's friends! Saturday we explored around a college by Nya's house ad Sadie and I were chasing squirrels! Very early on Sunday Jovi and I started the drive home. We loved the rest stops and even got to meet pups when we stopped!

I had a great time and Mom told me Jovi would be back in 5 days!

So, Jovi and Mom came back on Friday. After we took the city boy for a short walk in the woods, then our Moms left us! Jovi and I were shocked! How could they! We always go with them! Well, at least they only went out for a little adult time and were back before we missed them too much!

Saturday we took the city boy aka Jovi further into the country! BOL!! Him and his Mommy were looking at the pumpkin picking farms and the horse farms we passed by! We finally got to the Dog Park for the Dogpark USA Meetup (only a 10 minute ride) and met our host Odie! Thanks for all of the treats Odie! They were yummy! We also met:
April, Snowy & Sassy
Brutus(who got loose for a while) & Pudgy
Richter
Esperanza
Mimi & Molly
Murphy! (Belly Rubs!)
Gizmo
Sorry, I know there were a few more, but I can't remember everypup!
My goodness there were so many pups I hardly had time to sniff all of their butts, I mean say hi to all of them! I sure am one tired out pup that is for sure! I need another nap after these last 2 weekends!

Woo Hoo I love meeting Dogsters!

NJ Dogster Meetup!

October 7th 2007 3:40 pm   [link to this entry]

We had a great weekend! We travelled 3 hours north to New Jersey to meet up with some of our fellow Dogster pups! Driving there and around was interesting, but I believe Mimi covered that in her diary. Odysseus was a most gracious host and his Mom is sooo nice! The meetup was held in Medford and it's such a pretty town!

We met so many fabulous pups! Odysseus, Esperanza, April, Snowie, Sassy, Spuds, Murphy, Jovi, Sammy, Brutus, and Pudgy were there! (I'm sorry if I missed anypup) They all had wonderful humans that came with them too!

Odysseus is a lovely mushball, such a sweetie! Snowie is a beautiful fluffy Eskie and really wanted to play with me and Mimi! Jovi, the bad boy extrodinaire, was there and Mom was amused by his Mom's stories of the naughty things he does, such as eating CDs. Jovi even peed on his Mommy! Can you believe that???? Spuds was such a cutie! He made sure every pup was welcomed with a big smile and a wag of his feathery tail. Everyone seemed to really like me and Mimi. I gave out lots of smoochies and received many smoochies back! Lots of nice pets too!

We got a nice goodie bag of homemade treats, bandanas, and toys! We had such a nice time and we really hope we can run into these Dogsters again!

We stayed at the Wyndham Hotel in Mount Laurel. It was a busy place as there were conferences going on and a wedding party. We were graciously welcomed and had a nice room to stay in. It was so nice of this hotel to allow us two big dogs to stay overnight! Mimi and I passed out on the floor after our adventures and Mom went for a swim in the pool.

We had to wait a while at the check out counter when we checked out. I didn't mind, as I loved to watch the people walk past and give them my best smile and waggy tail. Mimi and I waited patiently by the counter. A young couple were checking out and I checked out the woman. She was sooo sweet and gave me lots of loving. Mimi got her share of love and admiration too. The man turned and looked at us and then had a chat with our Mommy.

"Are your dogs search and rescue dogs?"

"No, they are my personal pets."

"Oh. Really? I never would have guessed they were your personal pets because they are so well behaved."

"I expect them to be well behaved. As a responsible dog owner, I would never bring a dog to a hotel that wasn't well behaved. They are big dogs and they could easily knock down a child or a fragile adult. For the safety of those around them, I insisted that they learn to be well behaved. So, I spent time training them to be well behaved, so we could all spend more time together. It wasn't easy. Mimi is very stubborn and doesn't like to listen to commands. Molly is a very powerful puller and likes to jump on people and knock them down in order to give them kisses. I had the expectation that they could be well behaved and I demanded that they be well behaved. It took time and a lot of treats and praise, but I think the result was good. Don't you think?"

"Yeah."
