FOR SCHOLARSHIP CHAIR
Often the President serves as the Scholarship Chair, and for that reason
the reports due are noted in the President’s
form IB320/1.
Emphasize high academic achievement in the
name of Delta Omicron.

SUGGESTIONS FOR PROJECTS TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC
EXCELLENCE
Award
the Senior Honor Pin.
Award
scholarships in the name of Delta Omicron to chapter members for academic and/or
musical achievement. (The chapter
may develop projects to finance this type of benefit, but credit is given in the
awards category only when the scholarship has been awarded.)
It is advisable to have the Chapter Adviser, the Faculty Sponsor, and the
Music Department Administration involved with the selection.
Give
other awards for high scholarship, such as:
1.
A Harvard Dictionary of Music to an outstanding student musician, e.g.
one who has made the most improvement, musically or scholastically.
2.
Fee to cover one, two, or three units of applied music lessons for a
term.
3.
Awards for composition competitions including the opportunity to have the
winning composition premiered.
4.
Other awards for superior grades (short-term projects).
Tutoring in theory, including ear training and sight singing, music history, etc. for pledges, freshmen, and other levels of students - the chapter or music department.
Practice Sessions by various names: Practice-a-thon, Mock Juries, etc.
Study
Groups (at exam time, or on a regular basis.)
Scholar
of the Week. (This needs clearly defined description and administration
but can be relatively inexpensive and rewarding.)
When
reporting scholarship awards on IB372 please name the
award given, the amount, the time and frequency, the means of financing, the
procedure for administering the selection.
If flyers or application forms are used to publicize the award, please
share this information when you send the report.
